Praetors of Dorn Space Marine Log

Before I begin, these paint jobs aren't going to blow anybody's face off. This is a painting log for tabletop acceptable marines. I'm not really looking to show off my paint jobs, just mainly looking for suggestions and giving myself some motivation to get more painting done. ...Oh, and because someone pressured me to, you know who you are. So without further adieu.

What I have completed so far:

2 Vanguard vets that I'm temporarily using as Honour Guard

2 Tactical Squads with flamers (I have a few extra heavy weapon marines I swap around)
6 Sniper Scouts (with 1 Missile Launcher)

9 Shooty Terminators (4 of them magnetized for soon-to-come Lightning Claws)
2 Multimelta Dreadnoughts
1 Sternguard Veteran (Serving as a Devastator Sergent until his squad is finished)

*Fast Attack*
2 Landspeeders with Multimeltas

*Heavy Support*
1 Magnetized Land Raider (currently with Crusader and Redeemer options)
1 Predator (Old school model decked with Lascannons)
1 Whirlwind
1 Devastator Squad (Normally 4 Missile Launchers)

What I have to paint:
4 Honour Guard from Masters of the Chapter models compliments of Ilikebmxbikes (go read his log, it's way better)
9 Sternguard
1 Terminator magnetized for a Stormbolter/Powerfist/Powersword/Lightning Claws/Assault Cannon/ Cyclone Missile Launcher
4 Tactical Marines
1 Attack Bike
8 Bikes (3 unpainted, 5 need to be stripped/repainted)
2 Drop pods
1 Landspeeder (strip/repaint)
2 Rhinos (strip/repaint)
and if I feel bold enough, 2 more Tactical Squads (strip/repaint)

The models I'm looking to repaint are a mix of models I have from about 8 years ago and models that were given to me (with the intention of being repainted).

I'll follow up this post with better pictures of each unit.

Finished my Terminator Assault Sergeant with his Thunder Hammer / SS. Haven't finished the other arms yet. This was my first paint job using foundation paints and I'm pretty happy with how the bone came out.

Next up are four more Sternguard so I can field a five man unit for some upcoming battles against ilikebmxbikes.

Your painting is very well executed. One thing thought with models that are this impressive you should drill out your barrels. They stick out against models that are that well painted. Especially the stormbolters on those termies.

Hmm, I never thought about that. I'll have to give it a try, thanks.

Its pretty easy, a pin vice is your best bet for the "smaller caliber" weapons like bolters, etc.

The GW pin drill works pretty good. Just use a hobby knife to make a tiny hole to set the pin before you drill it. It doesnt take very long to do at all either.

Finished two more Sternguard and tried drilling their barrels (though this was a bad picture for it).

The guy on the right is the sergeant, who has magnetized arms for a bolt pistol/chainsword varient.

Picked up a Terminator Chaplain to roll with my Assault Terminators.

I think you're doing a great job with a difficult colour scheme. I wouldn't have the courage to paint all that light shade on those large vehicles.

Don't have much update wise, I've been busy/slacking. I started some of my new honour guard tonight, using some new techniques. Here are some photos of the helmet and shoulder pads.

The difference is basically that i didn't use any drybrushing for the layers and highlights.
