    Space marine fleet rules

I was wondering which publication (white dwarf, Specialist games ect) had the most current space marine list in full for battlefleet gothic? Also, if there where any rules ever made for Venerable battle barges (I seem to remember something about them, but what the rules where exactly I don't know)

Theres a fairly comprehensive Space Marine fleet list in the BFG: Armada book, whether or not it's been updated since then I dont know....

    Re: Space marine fleet rules

The most recent official rules for Space Marine fleets are those found in Armada. There have been no official updates since then.

A number of experimental SM fleet lists were published in the print version of Fanatic Magazine (issue #6, maybe?), and these included the rules for Venerable Battle Barges, amongst other things.

Unfortunately the article in question isn't currently available in an on-line version; there was considerable angst over much of the material in the article in any event, as many BFG players thought it a poor effort.

Both Armada and the Experimental SM fleet rules are available online.

A link to the latter, if you please?

It isn't on the Specialist Games BFG pages, currently.

(Armada is indeed there, as several separate sections listed at the bottom of the BFG Rulebook page.)

They did?! I thought the fleet lists were pretty good and went some way towards fixing the marine fleet. I use them now instead of the Armada SM list.

    Re: Space marine fleet rules

I'm afraid they got some extensive (and sometimes heated) discussion, and there were a number of objections to various parts of the rules sets. The "SM Dominion" fleet in particular got some serious objections from not a few players; one of the more interesting, paraphrased, was "it should never have been published at all, it's as big a foul-up as that Seditio Opprimere Ultramarine battle barge with the six lances on each side."

Not all of these discussions happened on sites that can be easily accessed (and some are just plain gone now, vanished into the Warp), but the following links are to some fairly representative forum discussions of the type I'm referencing:

You might be right, I can't seem to find it now, even on the older BFG pages. I'm looking at the PDF right now though, so it was up at some point. Dunno why they would have removed it. The main problem with the Dominon fleet was that the SM Strike Cruisers were priced lower than in other fleet lists (where they were generally considered OVERcosted).

    Re: Space marine fleet rules

I agree, it was out there once; I saved a copy of the PDF myself!

Still, I was hoping for the sake of interested newcomers to BFG that it was still out there somewhere easily accessible on the web, and I'd just missed it.

But such are the issues that come with liking a Specialist Game, I guess.....

Looks like Fanatic Mag #6 (the one with the marine fleets) is still avaliable from UKMO:

The Marine Fleet is in the Rulebook section under "To Cleanse the Stars" (it's in the back).
