    Re: Malifaux

Picked up the Dreamer box set the other day and it's now sitting here primed (the models, not the box, for t'would be silly)
and other than a bit of potential greenstuff filling in for joints on a certain Lord Chompy bits, the models are fine and absolutely gorgeous. Have had the books a while and
this was my first purchase of models. Just something about this little kid having such hideous, spiteful minions appeals! Having seen the avatar I may have (actually have)
to get the model just 'cause! Between my historical projects, this and Dystopian Wars, I can see the GW games getting a bit less play time in the coming months!

Anyone have any recommendations as to how to expand my crew? I realise I will of course form my own opinions based on getting games under my belt, but if there are any fellow Dreamers out there
wish to chip in some advice I would be most grateful.

I tend to favour a fairly defensive approach in my gaming if that helps (though again, I daresay that may change from time to time if I decide to mix up crew builds-Malifaux certainly seems to offer a lot of
    choice!)

    Hi

Thanks for the advice and links.

    I'm in doubt between :
Perdita box with Abuela ortega and enslaved nephilim added
    Or
    Kaeris with iggy added

Both nice models, perdita shold be easier to start with?

    Re: Malifaux

Perdita is a great way to start as she affords a new person some leniency and has the highest defence in the game.

A deck of cards, preferably the Malifaux specific ones, and the Rules Manual if your opponent does not have one. You will also need some way of keeping track of wounds on models (I laminate my cards) and your soulstone cache (I use glass beads) as well as measuring tape etc. Enjoy, and tell us how it went!

The colour doesn't matter at all unless you want to match them to your crew, but then you buy another crew and need another deck and then another and it gets silly

Mine are in deck protectors anyway, so the colour doesn't matter.

@Lungboy: I like having a separate deck for each faction (and each master for my Ressers). It's very silly but I kinda like it.

    Re: Malifaux

I just have two decks, although my (growing) collection of Malifaux minis currently spans 3 factions.

The way I figure it, Red vs. Blue is enough.

    Re: Malifaux

There's also the immensely more cool puppet deck and retro fate decks available in plastic for slightly more money.

Difficult to play with and shuffle. I have them and they look cool for demos but don't like using them as much.

@Verm1s: Hoff is even better than we thought. Talents include any actions that are on the construct's card as well as spells. So basically anything printed on the construct can be Assimilated by Hoff.

I think from now on we need to decide on crew selection after we know our strategies. That is how it should be played but with limited models we are limited. Anyone playing at Bearded Dice (#theundercity) is welcome to use my models for their crews.

    Self-healing! Self-healing!

But I might stick with Immune to Influence.

Yup! Though after Thursday's game I'm encouraged to start beefing up Hoffman's crew, build up a higher model count and flexibility, etc.

    Malifaux is going plastic.
    That's an interesting development.
Looks like there are going to be more options for building your minis, which is nice.

Plastic is the way Wyrd has decided to go for Book 4 and onwards.

Reserving judgement but not too impressed.

Unfortunately the prices are (apparently) remaining the same. Whilst generally speaking this is a "good" thing, if they are really serious about going to plastic sprue they need to price the game as a high volume product, otherwise, what's the point?
Trying to convince Warseer that GW are anything less than perfect is like trying to teach a horde of zombies that lettuce is a perfectly acceptable alternative to brains.
