Lest we forget
I'd be amazed if these were plastic sprues.
I'm somewhat amazed there's still a company taking a step like this without a crowdfunding project...

The plans were probably started well in advance of the kickstarter craze.
And still they might have one around the corner for converting old sculpts into the new material. (Which I'd be all for). It's always great to see a move away from metal, but I *sigh* when I think about how many years it will take for a large range to make the shift.
It's not a soft plastic like PP and Mantic use. They've described it as being as hard of a plastic as they could find that still wouldn't be an issue to clip from sprues. I'll try to find the quote:
"this is just about the hardest plastic we could find, no squishy here! Holds detail great, doesn't break easily. In fact the biggest problem I had was that it could be hard to cut off the sprues,..."
So whatever it is, it's a hard plastic and it's one sprues.
I am partial about this, I like metal. But the quality shown in those previews is very nice. It can have many great possibilities though and computer sculpting turns out amazing stuff these days.
EmperorNorton is right, they should Kickstarter this. They have the crowd and it is probably a big investment.

My mistake, I do get what you mean. Healthy sustainable growth is also a thing to consider. Many of the successful projects will see some delays with unhappy customers, not enough stock and so on. But in the current economic climate it is also something not to be sniffed at. Hardly any risks and it advances your line of product, the unpredictable aftermath is the main risk you take.
Hey all. Just got myself the dreamer box set and the mini rule book.
Is this enough to play with (to start until i know the rules better)?
Alfie, that is all you need to start, except a opponent with their own crew. One ofthe greatest things about Malifaux is it's extreemely low buy in value at the start.#
As for the plastics, I am excited to see them in the flesh, I have high hopes for the Rail crew and Ten Thunders ranges.

I think the Rail crew is a really cool concept, but I'm not too hot about the execution.

I mostly want to get the golem fr the rail crew andname him Ivor, heheh. But, I will get the crew anyway since I quite like most ofthe minis and paint them up, even if I do not like the rules. Ten Thunders though too brilliantly done, at least in miniature form. I want to see if there will be any Guild advance releases too over Gencon. Not getting 1.5 yet though since it is just a update of the original book with anothing really new added.

As mentioned above, i have just started and bought the Dreamer box set and mini rule book. Is there an army book or something similar? I plan to play a few games to make sure i like the game but if i do i would want to expand a tad...but i cant see anything like an army book, so how do i know what the models stats etc are like before i buy them? (though i do want to get the big ol teddy whatever the stats are)

If a model has had an updated stat card isn't it available on Wyrd's site?

@ Sholto - I know of the updated fluff, but right now I have other things I want to get before spending money on a revised version of the book.
I did answer you right after you first post saying it was all you need
So far there are 3 books. Malifaux (Malifaux 1.5 coming out soon), Rising Powers and Twisting Fates, each are large scale books that retail for $35 each. They are nice books, but I wouldn't buy them until after you decide to stay with the game. Teddy is nice and has good synergy with The Dreamer. All clams shell (blist) packs and box sets contain all of the rules for the models they contain and will include the updated stat cards (but check the Wyrd site for the errata just in case there have ben further updates since the last printing of the cards). Many stat card from book 1 (Malifaux) have have Version 2 (will have a small V.2 in the bottom right of thesummary part of their card), as have smoe card from book 2. All of those cardshave since been pdated in the packs you get them in and have been for some time now. I hope that helps
There are no army books for Malifaux, instead all books containing rules for models for all factions.

Cheers Lonelypath,
You did indeed help with my original question but that was about starting. I was then asking about continuing.
So if i want to see the stats before i buy the models i really need the expansions (or whatever they are called). Fair enough, they arent that different in cost to a WM army book.
Sorry for all the questions. If this is the wrong place let me know and i will go elsewhere (at moment am having problems registering on the malifaux forums).
