So I have loved Warmaster ever since it was first released ten years ago. Cleanest ruleset GW has produced, very elegent. The ten millimeter models are superb. Also a unit is $15 now not $80 like in it's larger cousin. Anyways, I digress.
Over the years I have collected three armies in order of purchase; Dark Elves, Araby and Empire. I have pfutzed around with them all from time to time and for various reasons, wife, two kids, etc, I haven't finished any of them. Now a couple of friends of mine are planning to refight the battle of Hel Fenn in 10mm. Aha! My muse she speaks again! Empire it is and the noble if disheveled state troops of Stirland shall march forth in their grubby green and yellow!
So enough of the prattling on let's get to the pictures which is why we read these things right?
This here is my first strip, it's done, less the flag, I can't decide between some simple geometric shapes or maybe painting some little heraldic devices for the banners, but that'll keep till later.
This is the general's view aka the rear.
Here is a quick size comparison for all of you who haven't seen Warmaster in person, the handsome blue guy is a standard 28mm Alpha Legionaire, the yellow and green gents you've met already.
This last pic lets you behind the curtain to see the magic of washes and highlighting.
The guys on the left are basecoated with Citadel and Valejo paints. The guys on the right have gotten a devlan mud wash and then one bold highlight all around. That's it! The stand on the right took maybe 2 or 3 hours worth of work, basecoated and washed bfore I went to bed, and then highighted the next morning after I walked my son to school and before I went to work. Once you gang three of these stands together and see six rows of guys marching in column its pretty cool, not to mention three units brigaded together or the sight of the whole army striding off to war! Heck, the whole army will fit in one maybe two of the clear plastic drawers that fit in a toolcase! Good stuff.
And so it begins kiddies! Tune in next time as we continue our epic journey to Hel Fenn and a two thousand point or so Warmaster Empire army!
Thanks to Sean over at modelwarships.com who helped me with the photos.
Comments and criticism are desired guys I am curious to hear what you all think!
