    Re: Warmaster!

Green and purple compliment eachother however. I like them!

I just finished up cutting flash off my Chaos warmaster stuff, and will be filing them sometime by the end of next week! I also have an Empire starter army box I will be working on!

Keep up the good work, I enjoy seeing Warmaster on here!

ALSO, I think you can go with standard static grass, gives them a feel as if they are marching through uncut land.

    Re: Warmaster!

@Ancre, Thanks for the comments, is it the tone of green ie Goblin green or just the green and bone in general don't seem to work? I originally saw this sceme around '07 when these sculpts first showed up at gamesdays. I think theyn iused Camo Green and bone , but since I used Camo on my empire I went with this route.

@Armond, Thanks, I threw the purple in the scheme to give my Araby a kind of Mardi Gras feel, green purple and gold being the traditional fat tuesday colors after all.(Catholic holiday psuedo Muslim army, no confusion here right? ) I think I will try some static grass first, I think you are right about the length, stay tuned to see hoew things work out!

@Hammer49 Thank'ee sir, I have some more on the way!

    Re: Warmaster!

Concerning your grass question; I find that regular static grass still works well at 10mm scale. Arabyans look good but I have to agree about the purple and green. I think highlighting the purple or making it a little brighter/paler would work well.

    Re: Warmaster!

@Sigur, I'll be throwing some regular static grass on the empire guys later this week, I think it'll work fine after getting peoples opinions and checking out some other 10mm logs. The Araby stuff is definitely still wip, I will be hitting the green with a highlight for sure, the camel riders haven't received their wash yet but will get some highlights all around when it happens. I just have to decide how high to take the purple. Should I hit it with some hormagaunt purple from the foundation series or maybe the liche purple with white 50/50? I'll take a swing at each and see how it looks. New pics Wednesday probably.

    Re: Warmaster!

It's the tone of green I don't really like, I think it doesn't go very well with the white and yellow. I don't really know how I would have done it anyways, maybe with brighter white or darker green, but I am not even sure I would have liked it this way.

But that said, it is probably a matter of personal taste - I am the only one who doesn't like the color scheme ! (And you paint well, so don't mess your minis based on what I say, as my advice is probably not worth much Do what you like )

    Re: Warmaster!

Dunno about Termagaunt Purple (never used the colour) but if you go for lighter liche purple, I suggest mixing it with bleached bone rather than skull white. It will get you a softer light purple that doesn't look as gaudy as when you mix it with skull white. It'll also go a bit better with the robes of the araby dudes if you give it a hint of cream colour rather than just white.

Maybe this is only a minor thing given the scale but it might pay off.

    Re: Warmaster!

Fantastic stuff so far. If you have concerns about static grass, you might consider cutting it shorter with a sharp scissor to match the scale a bit better.

You, and other Warmaster painters make me want to try the models for the sake of fun. The ruleset looks really tight as well.

By all means, go for it! Well, I have to admit that I don't know poop about the rules but they seem to be very good (as you observed yourself) and the miniatures are of very good quality.

It seems like not a lot of people appreciate the amount of dedication that goes into warmaster models. Which is a shame because these are astoundingly good. Keep it up I'd love to see more!

    Re: Warmaster!

@Ancre; I understand what you are saying, sometimes a scheme doesn't work for me as well.

@Sigur; Good call on adding the bleach bone instead of white. Sometimes white takes your colors to a pastel shade while bone will give the color a more warm feel I think I'll take a crack at that.

@Fredmans; Little scissors good lord man I'm not that dedicated! I'll be throwing the regular stuff on later this week. You should take a crack at some of the 10s, these little models are fun to paint and you can crank them out in a relatively short time.

@Pugwash; Thanks, you'll see some more stuff shortly my boys willing.

@Stuffburger; Warmaster is like all of the specialist games, there is a dedicated minority who love them and most people probably would like them if they just got some more exposure. don't worry, I'll keep spreading the good word through pictures of little metal men!

You seem dedicated enough, jdp! A quality army knife/multi tool or some good nail scissors (girlfriend's/wife's, borrowed secretly of course) are two possibilites.

It might interest both of you that I just purchased a few Warmaster miniatures (although I intend to put them to good use in Epic). If I like them, a Warmaster army (or two) seems like an excellent future project.

    Keep it up,
    Fredmans

@Fredmans; I really enjoyed your epic armies, will you be using Warmaster daemons as graeter daemons for your epic chaos? They seem like naturals in that role. As strong as your painting-fu is in Epic I'd love to see what you could do in Warmaster!

    Re: Warmaster!

So I finished my pistoliers this afternoon.

All in all I'm happy with these guys, they were fun to paint and the first 10mm horses I have ever done. I went with a palamino look for these guys, I think I'll do bays for my knights, but it's hard to say until I start pushing the paint around which direction I'll go in.

I have started a unit of cannon, flagellents and knights, they are in various states of basecoat at the moment, but the devlan mud wash will hit them soon and then we'll really be rolling again!

    Re: Warmaster!

I think the tourqoise (sp?) on the Arabyans works great and gives them the right horde feeling, when opposed to the troops from the Empire, with their bolder colours.
Every time a Warmaster plog surfaces I really start aching to make an army for myself...

@Durloth Thanks, I need to finish that Araby unit up to get the full effect, but I am fairly happy so far, need a little more contrast on the green but overall I like what's going on so far. I recomend you take the plunge and start painting in 10mm it's a blast, the only problem is finding people to play with although painting a second army will cure most of that problem! Who knows, if enough of us keep buying Warmaster we might see a new army again, maybe Cathay or Ind!

    Re: Warmaster!

Just a text update for you all out there in the interweb work does continue on the Warmaster front. I just primed a bunch of empire characters today, hooray for spring! I also washed and am highlighting my Araby camel riders. They are nice models, but I am having trouble with the color of my camels. I am basing them desert yellow giving them a devlan mud wash and then highlighting 50/50 desert yellow and bleach bone. They look pretty light right now, but that could just be the contrast with the other colors that are unhighlighted currently. the other problem is desert yello has a low pigment content and I think the bleach bone just swamped it. I might have to go back in with a 75/25 mixture, we'll see. The other option would be to use the snakebite leather and bleach bone on one as well and see how that looks. Then my camels will look like my palaminos. Oh well I'll slap some paint around and see what happens.

    Re: Warmaster!

Well, I have a lot of stuff basecoated and ready for washes and highlights, but nothing really finished at the moment. I have been sidetracked by my FOW Hungarians at the moment but don't worry I'll get back to the 10s sooner than later!
