I lo love Weissmann's Baneblade. Something about it always appealled to me over the regular FW version. Shame it's no longer available, although plastic Baneblades are a lot cheaper...

Mr Grimm: That pintle heavy bolter comes with the Weismann Baneblade FW made.

    Re: SDKFZs Mechanised Guards

    Thanks, everyone
Well, Jacka, Tinners right. Hes from my malcador, and HG, the Catferret is also right. Its "Michael Wittmanns" heavy bolter

Primed the baneblade, yesterday. Most of it still sticks. Hopfully ill get around to airbrushing the first of the desert yellow this evening.
Then tomorrow ill have a go at drybrushing it. Hope the paint dont start falling off. If it does there will be a cheap baneblade for sale

    Wish me good luck !

Ohh man I want that baneblade! Damn the old fw design is so much better than the new and now plastic design. Next time you're in the vicinity of Viborg you should definitely bring this beauty (and your leviathan) along

I'm with TDA on that, great looking beast. Always preferred the large fuel tanks.

    Re: SDKFZs Mechanised Guards

Please reassure me that the whole thing has been properly scurbbed after the fuel tank incident. That is definately a mould release agent issue and if it was present on teh rest of your kit then you might have trouble further down the line... I've seen a superbly painted greater daemon of nurgle literally fall apart as the stunning paint work flaked off. All because not enough attention was paid to cleaning the parts before starting.

You can usually tell problem areas by their smooth, slick and greasy nature. As in your case above, sometimes you can simply place your thumb on teh paint and literally slide it across the surface! Check the rest of your model by handling and testing areas, particularly crevaces that might've been more difficult to clean initially.

Please do it before you go too far with painting so you can recitfy things now rather than get annoyed with the whole thing later!

    Re: SDKFZs Mechanised Guards

@ tda: Thanks, Mate ! ...and, i take that as an invitation I also like the FW one better. It looks more like a tank and less church.

@ -BoBo-: Thanks, Mate ! Well, six painted ones, two old ones, this one under painting and two in boxes We are just talking tanks now, BoBo. Guess thats my regiment........

@ Ash: Thanks, to you too ! ....and the big exhausts, looks like theres more engine in these.

@ Colonel Jacka: Oh, yes ! Mars pattern, me thinks.

@ Oink: Ive washed, scrubbed and used allsortsof detergents on it, so i hope ive done everything i could. Ive even used pancleaners on it
I think that the next thing would be a grinder.
Ive handled it abit and sofar the paint sticks.

I had to help a friend move one of his old (1937) tractors, so i only just got home. This means there will be no inking today, sad face.

    Tomorrow...........perhaps.

Book it as tank-driving, i think driving such an old monstrosity is a close as you ever get to drive somethin comparabele to a baneblade.

    Hehe you're always welcome mate

Colonal Jacka@ that is a handsome specimen you have there, it would really benefit from an oil paint wash and some sponged on paint chips to give it a bit of weathering and depth

    Re: SDKFZs Mechanised Guards

Looking very sweet, SDKFZ! Big fuel tanks are definitely the way to go.
The large drums and this colouration reminds me of the WW2 LRDG (Long Range Desert Group) vehicles which carried extra guns, fuel, ammo, etc for ranging far and wide, hitting the enemy on extended campaigns...just like a true Bandeblade should!

    Re: SDKFZs Mechanised Guards

    IT WORKED !!!
I didnt drybrush the paint away.

Next comes the detailwork. The tanks/barrels at the back will be godex grey like on my other tanks.
I will paint the commander like my other tank crews.
The holes in the exhaust shrouds will get the same treatment as the rest of the exhaustsystem.

@ andyg2006: It might just have a slight size problem

@ tda: Lets hope i can make it.
