I'm curious for pictures. I was planning on making some stalk tanks myself, but I'd really like to see how you're going to make yours.

@MacVurrich: Don't post the PDF up!!! I did that for someone else and got my post deleted cos I broke copyright... BUT, if youve got a website, post it there and PM me a link... .

@Mojaco: Cos theyre basically walkers with Las-cannons,
(i.e. boring Sentinels), i decided to pimp them up a bit... .

Keep them walkers by giving them chaos legs (i.e. Defiler bottom half).

Since the WD article says they use "...twin pulse-cannons...", i decided that i could tweak it to say "...twin linked Las-cannons...". For this, i would need the IG/SM LC Tarantula from FW.

dont worry, i'll still pay the extra points for the "twin-linked" part...

I'll buy appropriate Defiler sprues from GW mail-order tomorrow, (saturday), and order the tarantulas by mid-week...

ETA for pictures: next weekend (-ish!!!).

Ahem... a slight change of plan...

Instead of buying the Defiler stuff, I opted to build one unit type at a time starting with HQ/Heavy Support...

So instead, I bought two "6-man" Heavy Weapon Platoons, one with Auto-cannon and one with Rocket Launchers...

Note that they're all built (and converted), I'll post pics tomorrow (hopefully)...

I also decided on how to split my troops up, into factions:

• The main 1000pt army, for average-sized battles.
• A 400pt (-ish! Give or take 100pts or so...) combat patrol force, mechanised, as an add-on to make a 1500pt tournament contender. Can also be used separatley for smaller skirmishes.
• A FW Baneblade tank, bringing the total to roughly 2000pts.

Pretty nifty, huh? (Comments please...)

I've also set myself a small milestone/deadline... I hope to complete the 400pt part before 18th June, in time for the Conflict: South Doubles Tournament at Alexandra Palace... Aargh!

Because to the amount of work i'm getting, this should be easy. But there are other commitments (i.e. college, parents, mates, etc).

Still, four months is a LONG time, and theres a birthday in March, meaning a cashflow boost... Who knows, I may JUST pull it off...

Anyway, less rambling, more army building...

I do so agree...

However, I wanted this thread to reflect ALL the parts of building an Army, from: Concept -> List Making -> Model Building/Painting -> Playing.

Anyways, these ought to serve your appetite...
They're of the Rocket Launcher Team, they will be primed by tonight and painted by 2 weeks time...

In a few hours i'll do the same for the Auto-cannon Team...

Slight technical hitch...

I cant upload photos from my home computer (a $*@#-ing laptop)...

I'll see if I can't get some Net-cafe time in before the day is out, otherwise I'll upload via the college computers the other side of the weekend...

UPDATE: 2 out of 3 Heavy Weapon Squads, Hellhound and 1 out of 2 leman russ are built and at least primed (both tanks are painted).

Anyway you say you wanna get a Baneblade to bring your force to around 2000pts, you do know that you can only use a Baneblade in games of above 2000pts because you need a second detatchment?

I thought it was only a 1500pt lower limit!
(But I dont own a copy of 'Imperial Armour', so I could be mistaken...)

Looks like it'll be two varied 500pt segments then...

Do you know if theres a FW stall at Conflict?
The leaflet said 'New Releases', but i'm not sure...

instead of buying the tarantulas, why dont you just purchase the razorback weapon sprue. it comes with a twin linked lascannon. and it is like $6. just an idea.

@ ilikebmxbikes: I would do that, but I cant see a way to mount them on the defiler base. Besides, the computer part between the lascannons shows a bit of AI, which fits the bill perfectly.

Sod doing 500pts before June! I just heard about the Taros Campaign, taking place in GW stores at Easter, I'll probably be the only Blood Pact player there, so it's time to show off a little bit...
