Nice stuff, I love the skin on the trolls.

Nice posing on the Griffon. Mine tends to anchor my sentinels instead of the Invictors.

Thanks. I am about equally glad about the two schemes, but this one was predetermined to be blue if I want to stick to my overall theme. As I've mentioned, I am trying to tie the colour scheme a little bit more to the background of the Rettribution, ie. the disseperate elements having their own visual indentity. However, for aestethical reasons, I will be trying to reuse the same colours to tie the army together. House Nyarr have the bluish scheme, and thus also the Dawnguard. The pure Retribution elements sport the brownish/green scheme. What House Shyeel would have I have not decided yet, but properly whitish blue as seen on parts House Nyarr units.
You could easily be right. It's a bit murky with all those dark tones. Skintones is one of my cornundrums with the Legion. There is such a wide variety of amount of exposed flesh and several races within the Legion that IMHO it's a bit hard to go with one and get all of the minis entirely right. Oh well, now you have got the idea into me so I have to try it outIceblue skin for the Nyss, dark skin for Ogruns and blue-black for beasts it is...
Yup!I'm kind of maschochistic that way! At least the effort saves me money for feeding my painting habit!
(and good suggestions on alternative skin tones does not make it any better)
Thanks. I figured that the static pose of the official Griffon was rather bland, so I tried to give it a more natural pose without resorting to the dremel. This Griffon usually hangs around with Invictors since I tend to play Ravyn
Thanks! I am actually rather pleased with it too
Speaking of Trolls - An Impaler:

A little (pun intended) variation on the Trollblood theme; Swamp Gobbers:

Hooray! I'm horribly late on commenting!
1) The acolyth is lovely - looks suitably mean, though perhaps a touch dark.
2) Impaler. You continue to be the only Trollblood painter who has work that I appreciate. Do you have a Doomshaper somewhere? I want to see him in your scheme and can't remember if he's in here or not *shrugs*
3) Gobbers - Great painting, but I still dislike those models. Gobbers always look so cool in the art, but the models have overly bulbous heads and the most ridiculous mouths I've ever seen. Despite that, I really like the metal lining on the bellows.
Ah, but they are usually worth waiting for anyway
Yeah, they do seem a little on the murky side. I am still considering basher's suggestion of making the skin lighter. However, that requires an adjustment across the scheme, and with Legion, that isn't that easy...
Thanks!
Doomshaper is currently simmering in the cleaning pot, so he'll show up some day
I actually quite like the Gobber minis. I can see what you mean about the mouth, but somehow I think they look quite well. Or, at least, the Swampgobbers do. I am not that convinced about the Cygnar Bodgers though...
Coming up soon: Retribution Sentinel and another Mage Hunter, Madrak Ironhide and a repainted Warmonger. Somewhere on the near horizon is also Typhon (that is, once I decide finally on a scheme)
A small update while I'm basing Madrak and another Mage Hunter.
The Deathstalker with completed base:

Some nice stuff. Madrak looks great in that colour, much better than the PP scheme. I must ask though, do you use the NMM technique on the armour and weapons?
I did like the Nyss' darker skin scheme,it seems to make more sense to my own imagination, but the lighter skin works a lot better with the dark clothing![]()

I think a certain amount of common sense is called for here!
The lighter skin does work better.

Judging from the collective response, I believe I can safely say my Nyss is going to sport pale skin![]()
Speaking of that, I just needed to add that the skin is purplish in tinge, but that does not show too well on the photo.
Indeed. The Trollblood scheme is all NMM. IMO, NMM adds to the "cartoony" feel I believe fits the colour scheme and TB minis. Whether I always manage to pull it off properly is another matter
Next up: The fourth Mage Hunter:
Sitting on my desk is Borka Kegslayer and Typhon, så expect these soon...

I think a certain amount of common sense is called for here!
Well, I think that NMM are a question of taste when seeing it IRL. It looks awesome in photos, but that does not always mean they do in 3D.
I adapted quite quickly to the technique, but I have a background in 3D modelling, so I had a grasp on how light reflects before I began. That helped a lot. But still, I have troubles with complex shapes, especially bladed weapons, which I am rarely satisfied with..
Also, finding the correct colours is really important. If the shadow and highlight colours does not mesh and seem right for the material they are illustrating, the NMM is going to look crap no matter what. I have tried a lot óf combinations, but I have only a few I think work well. The gold you see here is one them.
Looking forward to seeing your version of our favorite three-headed draconic spawn![]()
A small interlude - a Warmonger:
(with the usual apologies for the photo - murky mini which in this case is also damn hard to photograph)
EDIT: I forgot; I've decided to stick to the dark skin scheme for the Ogruns. It fits them with the large amounts of bare skin, and it's nice with some variation in painting them. Besides, I've already painted Thagrosh, and I don't want to repaint him, really..
Now, the big one for Legion: Typhon!

that is awsome mate love the blue glow as ever you impress

I'm also quite satisfied with Typhon, but unfortunately, I did have a sort of traumatic moment while painting. I realized that Legion Warbeasts bore me to deathNot in the game, or concept really, but they are just incredibly boring to paint! I sincerely hope I can shake that lest I would have to give up my blighted pointy ears
Oh well, onto something more encouraging - Trollbloods. Borka is almost finished, so as a teaser in between I have the latest Kriel Warrior:
