Icecream Boy's 29th Nortesians

Hello fellow Warseers, as part of my New Years Resolution, I am starting a log for my Imperial Guard army, the 29th Nortesians.

Fluff- Nortesia is a planet, that due to its abnormal weather patterns, is covered in various landscapes that range from alpine tundra in the northern and southern hemispheres, to rocky snow peaks and vast salt lakes anywhere in between.

It is home to many ab-humans, though they aren't natives, but are the survivors of a massive planet purge by order of Inquisitor Ewan Callaghan.
The purge resulted in the death of thousands of xenos, ab-humans, psykers, and others deemed heretical.

When the escaped found the planet of Nortesia, civil war soon broke out, the ab-humans, psykers and other heretics joined forces against the xenos.
The Inquisitor soon heard of the situation, and being incredibly slack, decided to let them stay, but also to send most of the systems military to police the rebels.

Once they arrived, the troops soon found out what they were in for. There was little fighting amongst the ab-humans, heretics and xenos and all was rather peaceful. They instead found that the planet was recently infested by an Ork clan, and used conscripted ab-humans and xenos in their ranks.

What the Imperium doesn't know is that Inquisitor Ewan Callaghan is actually a heretic himself an is under the influence of Chaos. His plan all along was to draw the majority of nearby troops to one place, an then take over all nearby planets. He made communications with any other planet impossible for the Nortesians, and removed any vehicles and spacecraft capable of space travel.

Everyone on Nortesia is remains completely oblivious to the fact that their homes are being destroyed by the forces of Chaos, and continue to fight Orks on the the overrun planet.

Thats the basic gist of the story behind the 29th Nortesians.

Modelling style- I have used basic Cadian models, done basic conversions on them, taking inspiration from the Death Korps of Krieg, Valhallan, and Steel Legion regiments.
One particular log that has inspired me is get to the chopper!s log at DakkaDakka, here.

Oh and Ive re-read my fluff and realized it doesn't all make sense =/
In short, what I meant to write was that the Inquisitor had informed the Nortesian troops that there was civil war and to go and settle things, however there was actually an Ork invasion to keep them busy.
Hopefully thats better, Im not great at writing stuff lol.

Awesome work dude. What head did you use for your plasma gunner?

Thanks Mr Kibbles, the head in question is the one from the "Rocket Girl" figure from Colonel Schaeffer's Last Chancers, cut to size so it fits a spare cadian helmet from the Cadian Shock Trooper sprue.

On a slightly different note, would I be better creating another log for my general modeling exploits? Or just post the odd non Nortesian model in here, and hope I can get away with it... I'm just saying this as I do paint the occasional non-IG figure, and also have a rather large nurgle ork force that I would like to get feedback on.

Cool the idea of the fur made with the GS.The female Plasma Gunner really stands out!!!

I suggest to put all the stuff in the same log, at least for now.

Thanks Mannerheim, I love comments like yours and Mr. Kibbles as they inspire me to further my work after hitting a bit of a brick wall just recently.
As for my other works, I think I should make a second thread in the General Science Fiction section as this is what most of it consists of.

I have compiled a list of models that I have currently finished. The idea is that people can request what they would most like to see pics of, instead of me posting random things, hoping people will like them.
Blue denotes that the banners aren't done in the squad (yes I have one in each unit.)

At this point I should point out that I am merely making this army for the fun of it (as I do with all my models) and that I know that I am probably not structuring it correctly.

The psyker's pose is very cool, but the head of the zombi seems too big...

Thanks Mannerheim and Kobraki, I agree about the size of the zombie head, I may change it later.
I haven't yet got a new pic of the psyker as my mum has gone on a short trip and I'm currently locked out of her house where my models are >.<
In other news, I got my groove back and started painting three more models before she went, however for the same reason I don't have any new pics of them. She has arrived home late this afternoon and I'll probably be able to update sometime in the next few days as I am now on school holidays!

Apart from school resuming this week, I have been painting several other models as follows
-LoTR Hobbit
-LoTR Easterling
-LoTR Moria Goblin
-"Helper Robot" for the Engineering Squad
-The old Nazdreg model
-Touching up my HQ vehicle (partially seen in the back ground of a few pics.)

I should get around to making another thread for all my general modeling exploits sooner or later, so keep an eye out for that.

Hrm no one interested in that then...
Okay well here's something a little upsetting. I usually store two of my different basing materials, snow flock and GW dead grass, in the same box, but in separate containers. This morning I picked the box up and looked inside to find that somehow the two had been partially mixed >.<
After several hours of sorting, here is whats left.
