Exclamation Feralique: GW, Malifaux, Smog 1888 & Others...

    Greetings and salutations readers!

If you didn't know, I paint a myriad of different things from a variety of games as distractions from my 40K Chaos and this shall be my log to show you these.

I also recently broke away from being a hardcore GW purist of nearly twelve years and now I've always got my eye on alternate ranges to keep my painting experiences fresh. Heck, while I'm at it I would also like to teach myself to sculpt bits and pieces and maybe even whole miniatures. Who knows where I'll go?

Nice, gritty paintstyle. I particularily like that last guy! He looks cute. Good job on painting the old wounds.

I like the way that Dark Elf Dreadlord looks.
Also the guy with green hair looks so sinister yet so cool and the good paint job looks great on the model.

You've certainly put the punk in to steampunk with the hair colour of leveticus and the gunslinger. Helps them stand out quite a lot (as one tends to look at the miniatures from above) without disrupting the grim overall effect.

Re: Feralique: GW, Malifaux, Smog 1888 & Others...

Oh I haven't updated in a while, bad times.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm glad to hear people like my stuff.

    - - - - - - - - - -

First up, something I painted a while back and could not get decent photos of for some reason.

    Mordheim Halfling Thief:

Next up and more up-to-date, something to give any intrepid Warriors a run for their money.

Deathmaster Snikch / WHQ Skaven Assassin:

Now for a futuristic foray into the fiddly scale AKA Epic, some Tzeentch Daemons. I had fun doing these, discovered a nice painting idea for the flesh; pale blue with glazes of the GW Purple Wash to shade.

    Lord of Change:

    Screamers:

I have more to do, another three stands of Screamers and six stands of the old plastic Epic Flamers. Burn.

Finally, some more Malifaux to finish off for now.

    The Hanged:

Dang, I've just noticed a couple of areas on some of these that need doing / refining. Woops.

Still, I'd like to hear what you think as usual. As for next time, expect some Mad Puppet, some Weird Weird War2 and more Malifaux too.

    Keep it random,

Wow, that is a lot of stuff, a lot of ranges too. Good painting, a bit of a wild style, which I like.
I personally am of the total collectors breed, meaning I would have created one log each for all the ranges and sub-ranges/races
I really like these total random threads though, Harry´s being the mother of them all.
So keep it random and I´ll keep an eye.

    Cheers

The faces on the hanged are quite inspirational. Makes me want to recreate something similar in 40k... I think I know just the right specimen to experiment on.

Also, the world needs more epic lovin' - ace work on those screamers. It's not easy to make the details stand out like at a distance and still keep true to the 40,000 imagery.

Re: Feralique: GW, Malifaux, Smog 1888 & Others...

    Hello again people.

warflag, thanks for the kind words. I understand what you mean by having seperate logs, but having done that in the past I didn't tend to update these very often. I doubt I'd ever rival the size of Harry's log, but I can try.

Cresistauead, there just isn't enough Epic around is there? I'm glad you like The Hanged (even though I will have to go back and change some slight niggles with them).

Maelstrom, welcome to Warseer friend! (you'll find some of us aren't so whiney here.)

    - - - - - - - - - - -

I thought I'd update with this model whilst I finish off some others as mentioned in my last post.

    Scavenger Leader:

Let me just say, I love this model! It was probably the first non-GW miniature I rather liked and as such probably kicked off my adventure into alternate lines.

Having said that, it did take me three attempts to get the flesh right for some reason but persistence won out in the end. I'm rather pleased with the mohawk, managed to blend the colours quite well I think. I also added a bit of "psycho jester" makeup to his face for character.

Comments and stuff would be nice, I'm rather pleased with how it turned out.

    Thanks for reading,
    Feral

    keep up the good work!

I believe he is grabbing his crotch in defiance of the enemy, biginbelgium. That's post-apoc for you.

    - - - - - - - - - -

Well well look what we have here, some long-neglected 40K. Since this is my all-in-one log I will be closing my previous 40K-only one and putting all that work into this one. A fresh start is nice because this is my third attempt at a Renegade Militia force so its good to have a clean slate so to speak. For those who care, my Alpha Legion and other Chaos Marines will follow suit as they get rennovated in time.

    Anyway, on with the show...

Disciples / Veterans: (first half of the squad)

    Apostate Preacher: (one of two)

    Rogue Psyker: (one of two)

I think they look rather spiffing all together and making the place look untidy.

Till next time and some Zombies,
    Feral

Fantastic stuff as always Your work is really dark and portrays the grim aspects of the hobbies very well...

Here's a question, what scale is that Warmaster Lord of Change? I was looking into getting some Warmaster Greater Daemons for Bloodbowl but they might be too small... Cheers and keep up the sweet work

Amazing work on...well...everything frankly. You've taken several models that I personaly would have never picked up, and made them look steller.

The necromancer fellow with the green hair...I need to get me one of them...would be perfect for a Pathfinder character I'm working on. Do you know what scale they are? About the same size as gw minis? Not sure if you're familiar with the Pathfinder line (specifically the ones done by Reaper), but if you know how big he is compared to them, that would be perfect.

I especially like your take (or your most current take on) the chaos militia. Very nice source lighting on the eyes.

Didn't you plan on making three or so 40k scale LoCs? Anything ever come of that?

@ Frausty: They are quoted as 32mm heroic scale. It seems that most company's have a differing method of measuring the scale however. In terms of comparison to GW they tend to be about the same height but thinner and more lithe looking. Hope this is of some help although I'm sure the OP will be able to describe things better for you.

@ Feral : Very nice paint work. Particularly like the convict gunslinger!

    Greetings people!

Vinsanity and Frausty, here's a scale comparision shot for you to hopefully answer your respective queries (the Wyrd online store says Leveticus is about 24mm to the eyes).

As for the Lord of Change question, that was someone else's plans (Metal Fingered Villain perhaps? )

    - - - - - - - - - -

Anyway, here's something new for you, a pair of Sturmzombies from the game Incursion!

    Sturmzombie 1:

    Sturmzombie 2:

I have another two to do in the meantime, but I would like to expand them with some converted ones sometime in the future as well.

I also got my hands on some modern civilian zombies from Studio Miniatures recently, and am assembling them too (need to wait for supplies and resin bases though).

Thanks for the comparison shot (looks like they'll work out perfectly), and sorry about the LoC mixup.

Great job on the zombies. Very gritty without being sloppy. I'm impressed with your ability to limit the pallet, but still pull off a complete looking paintjob. Looking forward to seeing more!
