As usual your conversions and paintjob is really good, but this last model seem too "mechanichum" for me, more correct in a AM army than in a Pit-gladiator gang

Best necromunda log I've ever seen. I'm in awe of your sculpting skills. I think the yeld (great fluid pose on this one) and servitor are my favourites so far. Keep up the amazing job.
This plog is absolutely astounding. Sub'ed.
Thanks for the compliments guys! Sorry this plog has been so...well, ploggy of late. That should change now (at least for the next week or two) - I've been commissioned to make 4 Spyrers (2 Malcadons, 2 Yelds) for another member of these esteemed forums in time for a tournament. Wish me luck so that he doesn't have to play with wine bottle corks with paper clips stuck in them
The first few days was always going to involve me swearing and hacking up bits of sprue, but I've finally got round to putting some putty on things. You can see below that I'm about 60% of the way done with the body of the first Malcadon - she'll be holding the severed head of some unfortunate underhiver, either by his hair or the cauterised stump of his neck (look forward to those pics):
You can also see the first couple of helmet variants that I've made - I'll be supplying the client with a few different helmets and some bare heads.
The other Spyrers aren't quite as together as her, so they've turned up to this party without their legs:
I should have some photos worth uploading in a couple of days - if anybody wants a walkthrough/guide on how to make various bits, feel free to ask and I'll oblige if I can.
Happy hobbying Warseers...

More progress shots of the Malcadons - they are about 90% done now, just a few details on the bodies and the arms to go. The heads aren't glued, as I'm going to supply the client with six head options:

Simply spectacular matey...can't wait to see the end products!

But who are ye, in rags and rotten shoes; you dirty-bearded, blocking up the way?...
Ha! Love the bionic eye on the decapitated dude. Great wee touch. Just taking things that little extra bit of effort really makes your stuff special.
Hi all! Thanks for the feedback - especially dedicated followers can also rate this blog (hint hint)
Right, the Malcadon spyrers are done! Considering the timeframe, I think I've done a pretty good job on these. I've also included a pic of the two bare heads I'll be sending to the client (everybody loves having options):
The Yeld spyrers still need a lot of work, but hopefully I'll get them done before the deadline. I'll have progress pics in a couple of days. I'm looking forward to getting back to my Empire models (just spent 15 quid on eBay buying some old Marauder Mini wardogs - one of my future projects will be a Halfling Knight for Mordheim, so stay tuned)...
Enjoy the photos Warseers, and happy hobbying!![]()

I may be biased, but these are much more how I envisaged the spyrer rigs way back when I first read about them in my early necromunda days. Top-notch, matey!

Awe-some blog.
I got re-directed here while asking around for some custom Spyrers and I'll be grateful for that until the end of time (or the 41st Millenium, when you plan to finish this blog).
I've been thinking about how I'd do Spyrer conversions myself and I come out to the Eldar/ Dark Eldar too. The Hydra Gauntlets from the Wyches sprue seem like the perfect Malcador bits to me. I'll just have to look around for someone with (D) Eldar bits to spare for me.
But keep up this awesome work, I'm dying to see more of your stuff.

Cheers Tulkas! I might be doing tutorials in a few months, if you're interested (the client might want up to four of each type of Spyrer). A mix of Eldar and Dark Eldar bits should be a good start, with a bit of sci-fi cabling, should look pretty good with not much sculpting - then again, if you're not an experienced sculptor, practice is all good
Right, need to get these Spyrers finished by Monday, so here are the bodies (almost done, bar the backside/sideside on the male and various details on both). I probably won't keep the weapon design the same as my first Yeld model, but I'll think about that tomorrow.
More photos (hopefully finished) on Sunday. Happy hobbying Warseers![]()

Is there a specific place you get that Sci-fi cabling, or is it just Guitar string? On a side note, I don't understand why you don't try to cast these models. I'm sure people would be interested in them. Also, I'm working on an additional Spyrer-outfit that features flamers and chainsaw/buzzsaw weaponry. Would you be interested in making a matching model? I'm still in the process of designing it, but it would be motivating.

I think if casting for sale, Tulkas, you can't use an armature of GW parts...
But who are ye, in rags and rotten shoes; you dirty-bearded, blocking up the way?...
Oh don't worry, I'd be willing to take them for free
On a serious note, I'm wondering what the brown stuff is you're sculpting with and if any Warseers know if this stuff is available in the Netherlands as well.

@Tulkas:
Post #73 in this thread furnished me with the answer to the same question matey,
"Hoses: You can buy white metal tubing from various places - I get mine from Black Cat Bases. It's a lot easier to work with than guitar string...
http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=1692 "
As for brownstuff, battleforge ships to the Netherlands, and http://www.heresyminiatures.com/ has a great line in hobby materials...
Hope that helps!
But who are ye, in rags and rotten shoes; you dirty-bearded, blocking up the way?...
Ah, looks like I've missed a Q&A session...hope drmarco answered your question Tulkas, although I think there are quite a few online stores that can supply you with sci-fi cabling. Heresy Miniatures sells Brown Stuff and basic sculpting tools as well (and the owner seems like a nice bloke, so I'm plugging it here: http://www.heresyminiatures.com/shop...roducts_id=168). I'd recommend you call it Kneadatite when talking to non-sculptors; I've had some awkward conversations
Right, Yeld Spyrers are done! I've already sent the heads with the other Spyrers, so you'll have to imagine them. I'm pleased with the dynamic poses, although I think that was just a fortunate accident. Photos away!
Going to take a break from Necromunda and crack on with my WH Empire (Hammer knights! Puffy sleeves! Bomb pidgeons!). I'll post some pics of my knightly (sic) progress in a day or so, I'm pretty proud of them so far (although they don't ruddy line up properly...grrr...hammertime).

Wow! Best plog I've read in ages, I've learnt loads just looking at your sculpting! I'm Just getting into brown (green) stuffing and this really helps. Really love the spyers. Keep updating!![]()
Superb work all round. Your stuff has really come on in leaps and bounds since I last posted here! That says a great deal because your early stuff was fantastic as well!
Love the pit slaves and after just finished 40 plague monks I know where your scavvies came from!
Check out my great new Necromunda log

@e2055261: Ah, you figured out where I got my scavvies from...I haven't had the patience to make more than 4 of them, so well done for managing 40 plague monks!
@Andy_T: Thanks! I'm enjoying your Necromunda log as well, although your production rate seems a lot better than mine
Quick update to this neglected little corner of blogspace: I've made another pit slave to join my little gang of cybord renegades. This guy will be the 5th, so only one more after this till I have a starting gang (I really shouldn't have bought them a plasma cannon). It's a relatively straightforward conversion of a DV cultist model:
I'm hoping to be able to update this plog soon with more Spyrer pics, so wish me luck! Happy new year Warseers![]()
