    Frausty's Second: Dark Eldar

Was supposed to get this up over the weekend, but real life continues to conspire against my grand gaming schemes...Ah well, it's up now.

This is a very humble beginning, but it is a start. The camera I'm working with isn't the greatest for taking detailed shots, and I'm far from even amature levels of skill in photgrophy. That being said, I think the pictures I have show the conversions well enough, and hopefully by the time I really start painting I'll have learned to take better pictures.

First off, some of my favorite models in the army, wyches...

If you're not familiar with fantasy, these are almost entirely dark elf corsairs. The only real modification is the crossbow is cut down and glued back together to make shredders. Some of the rank and file wyches have dark eldar arms with close combat weapons and splinter pistols. Unfortantely all of my sucubi look pretty much the same. Different legs and heads, on the arm crossed torso. I really need to come up with some way to differentiate these guys.

Next is a poor but close picture of my incubi...

The other two that I have built don't have the tormentor helm gun piece added. I don't recall exactly which sprue it came from, but it's something (maybe a grenade?) on one of the craft world eldar sets. Otherwise this is a set of warrior legs, with the cold one calvary torso arms and (generally) head. Shields are also from the dark elf line, though I don't remember which set exactly. All that's left is green stuffing gaps on this one.

Along with the incubi is a pair of warriors with splinter cannons...

I wanted these to be definately female models, as they are supposed to be concubines for the lord who's retinue they're part of. They look a little alike for my taste, but the thought of a dark eldar lord buggering a pair of twins seems strangely appropriate.

    This is the lord's ride...

I've seen a few different takes on converted raiders, and used them as inspiration for my HQ's taxi. I really wish I would have waited to glue the dark lance on, as I got ahold of some magnets days later. If I'd been patient I could just pull it off when people roll those pesky "weapon destroyed" results.

A raider squad splinter cannong weilding warrior...with paint...

Not a lot of paint, but some. Dark elf warriors make up my troop selection, with appropriate dark eldar weapons. Still haven't come up with what I'll do for blasters yet, but I will eventually.

Well... there are suddenly quite a few of us around eh?

Looks like a good start, nice to see people doing conversions. I do like the cut down Raider look, been using it myself for a while (can't claim rights over the idea since I got my first one second hand)

Corsairs look nice mate. Not so sure on the chain mail legs to be honest but I'm prepared to be proven wrong.

now get some paint on these guys pronto!

I'm pretty sure it was your log, Hadriel, that gave me the idea for the raider conversion.

The chainmail legs are on the raider squad warriors. In my fluff for them they are heavier armored due to the fact they have a ride. Foot mounted warrior squads are going to be made with the lighter looking dark eldar legs and torsos, with dark elf heads.

Thanks for checking things out...should have an update sometime soon. I'm going to have one big update every month, and what I have up is just sorta a teaser/me getting the hang of taking pics. I'll probably get a couple more experimental pics up, then start taking pics of whole squads. I want to have a before, durring, and after paint pic of each squad. Not sure if I want to start with warriors or wyches first...

Plus I still need to get pics of my lord. He's a very rare/special model that has a little history...which I'll discuss when I finally get some photos of him.

    Dark eldar lord...

Like I said, this is a necromunda ash waste mini. Which, if you don't know, are rare as HELL. Apparently the mould broke not too long after they started the line, so they only got so many out...then of course gw decides to cancel necromunda support...

Years and years go by, and I meet my current warhammer group. There's a guy named Rod, who is the most veteran player, and owns TONS of gaming crap. Couple years after meeting him, he gets into a car accident and dies. Stupid seat belts...So, not really knowing what to do with the litterly tons of various gaming supplies, his wife gets ahold of a couple of his buddies and organizes a little get together. Everyone who showed up donated some money for Rod's kids and then went through and picked out stuff from his collection. I never even knew he had any of these until we went through his things...

Being that Rod was a huge space marine fan, and though he had played eldar before (he said he'd played just about every army gw's ever produced, at one point or another) he always refered to them as space fairies. I figured I rufle his feathers a little, and use this guy as the head of my dark eldar army. Some of his kit isn't 100% appropriate, but it might not be that big of a deal...

For one, the fluff behind my dark eldar is that this force is pretty far removed from the homeland, acting more like mercenaries than just raiders. So it stands to reason the head duder has picked up a few odd ball items here and there. Secondly, I'm going to throw some green stuff on this guy and cover a few peices...So, should work out in the end.

As you can see, he has a very "big truck, little...man" syndrome punisher. From the dark elf cold one riders. Not sure what I'm going to use for his other hand...hoping to find something pointing or giving the "come and get it" wave...just needs to be small enough to fit...

    Little closer view...

And the obligatory pet picture...this is Magwi, my chinchilla...Considering the number of pets me and my girlfriend has I'm going to put one up in each plog I do...which might end up giving me almost as many plogs as Mr. Feral...

    Re: Frausty's Second: Dark Eldar

    One more small update...

This is my second lord option...

He's going to represent a jetbike lord, though if we ever do get a new codex I wouldn't be supprised to see sky board lords become very effective (or, more likely, no longer an option).

He's going to be armed with an agonizer and pistol...just need to get arround to getting that other hand on him...

Next up is going to be my complete warrior squads, then complete wych squads. After that I'm going to start painting the warriors. Painting probably won't get put up until middle of next month, but I'll try to get the prepaint pics up before the weekend. Monday by the absolute latest.
