    Succursos angels vermillion and others

    /BIG EDIT

With the advent of the new Blood Angels Codex I finally got some time to paint and I also managed to get some better photos taken. So I have decided to update the thread, if you have visited before you will find that some of the photos have been changed and that there are a few more painted models added. Enjoy

    BIG EDIT/

    Hello Warseer,

Well I have been lurking about these forums for a while now and I really felt that if I was to pass comment on other peoples work then I should probably put some stuff up of my own as well.

So.... I have been painting on and off for many years now. The last couple of years have seen me work on Orks, Imperial Guard, the new Space Hulk and now my most recent project Angels Vermillion.

Why Vermillion - well whilst reading one of the imperial armour books I saw a picture of an Angels Vermillion Rhino and thought thats a cool scheme.

Anyways after much procrastinating I decided to start work.

As you can see I am going to try and sculpt the shoulder pads for all the models and I intend to sculpt other details as well.

    Heres the model painted:

I aint too happy with the photography for this - seems to make the model a bit too purple which it isnt in real life. As for the scheme itself I am fairly happy.

Lots to work on which is good as I intend to try and push my painting and modelling abilities as much as possible on this project.

And thats where you good fellows of warseer come in. Please give me as much constructive critism as you can.

    Regards

Overall it looks really good. I like what you have done with the helmet. And the overall paintjob looks pretty good. I would maybe do the eyes a different colour, to break up the red abit, and add a second lighter colour to make them pop a bit more. And maybe use a slightly lighter red for a bit of highlighting?

But a squad all painted up with the same helmet conversions would look really good.

    Thanks El Tanko,

I am unsure if I will continue using that helmet design across the marines. To be honest it was just me having a bit of fun with the GS.

You are right about the eyes and I have changed them. Switched to a green colour now for them.

Hopefully I will get a few better photos up of him soon. Just need to get the lighting sorted out.

In the meantime here are a couple of shots of some of the stuff I have been working on:

Heavy Bolter marine for the tactical squad - he has a slightly different chapter symbol although it still maintains the skull/blooddrop/wings combo. I also added some blooddrops to his right leg for a bit of variety.

And also here are the beginnings of some further chapter symbols. My plan for the far right one is to have the blooddrop coming out the eye of the skull.

Anyways again sorry for the quality of the photos, but thanks for looking and please post up any comments.

    Regards

Ok so I have a few more photos for you all to peruse.

Hopefully these photos are a bit better but I am still having some trouble taking good photos. .

I have also added paint to the second marine I am working on:

In addition I thought I would put a shot up of a scout that I painted as a very early test figure about 4 months ago when I first thought of doing Angels Vermillion. His armour was a much lighter red in the end. Given how dark the new minatures are turning out I am considering finding something halfway between them that might look good.

Finally heres a shot of something up and coming:

I recived the dread as a christmas present from my brother. Nice model but it had some of the worst flash I have ever seen. In addition to this it also didnt fit together particularly well. In the end given I am creating a blood angels successor chapter I thought it only fair to give this dread a weapon swap so that it can go furiso (What self respecting son of sanguinius wouldnt want to do that?) Hence the forgeworld CC arms in the background. These are going to require a fair bit of greenstuffing to bring them up to the same level of detail present on the standard ven dread arms. Good chance to add some Angels iconography to the model however.

Anyways I hope you enjoy looking and if you want to leave any feedback that would be much appreciated.

    Regards

Just need more light in those pics, Mine come out bad aswell though, so I cant say much!!!

Look forward to seeing that dread painted up
You could get a little lighter with the red, but I wouldnt go much lighter, I think the dark look of them is really effective.

Ok after updating some of the photos I have a few more pictures to share with you guys.

    Enjoy.

Another shot of the Heavy Bolter dude:

And a sanguinary priest I have completed. I really enjoyed working on this guy. I had picked him up originally for a Ultramarines army away back in 3ed. Decided to strip him and add a greenstuff insignia and a Death Company Jump Pack to him. Really liking the Death Company frames. Lots of interesting bits on there.

Anyways hope you have enjoyed this update and the new photos.

I have a couple of WIP marines on the go. A second bolter tactical and an assualt marine that I am having trouble choosing a helmet colour for. Went with a whitish yellow at the mo but not sure if it works or not.

Nice start! A good friend of mine is doing Angels Vermillion as well, so it's fun to see a different take on them. Definitely keeping an eye on this!

Looking great so far.Love people who sculpt their own shoulder pads. May have to have a go myself although I may just sculpt 1 or 2 and then cast the rest.
