what r u using for your base coat?
Ive been cheating and spray painted twenty guys with cheap flat black.
But most of the time I use chaos black, which IMHO i think looks better when you start to paint and really helps with the wash after.

King Thor - The skin tone scheme is posted on the first page of the log. But since I don't mind repeating...
    Base with Bleached Bone
    1 wash of Devlan Mud
2 washes of Thraka Green (I did 3 for the warboss)
Thanks for the comments by the way.

NotMyIfurita - WOOHOO, you win... although I don't have anything to give you sorry... maybe some pictures soon! Thank you for the comments. I hope to get some boyz painted this weekend, along with a trukk or two built and/or primed.

warboss tweed & ippering - I use a cheap can of contractor grade interior/exterior flat black primer. I get it from Canadian Tire (hardware store in Canada). It has no brand name on it, so I'm assuming it's just your average can of primer. I can snap a picture of it tonight incase anyone is interested.
I'm considering using chaos black primer, especially for my night goblins, just to make things easier. However, I've had great success with the primer I'm using, as it's cheap and effective

Re: Grimteff's WAAAGH! A Slow & purposeful log

It turns out I am alive after all!

Deffgob - Thanks for the comment! And the guy in the front is holding a head, very observant of you!

Anyways, I have a few updates to share with you all... just because life has gotten in the way of me posting, doesn't mean I haven't been completely ignoring this wonderful hobby!

Although my Orcs & Goblins and eventually Warriors of Chaos armies have been getting a lot of attention lately, I've still managed to get some work in with the Orks. But before I get to the Orks, here is something else I've been working on!

Finally, a table of my very own!!!!!

Also decided to to stick 1500pts of Orks on the table, just to see what it looked like. This is what I will be aiming to paint up A.S.A.P.

Here's a picture of the two trucks I recently put together (only one left to build!)

I don't know how I feel about the primer on the left... it's a new bottle I picked up. At first I thought it was a bit shiny... Now that it's dry, it looks a lot closer to Chaos Black. Don't know if I want that or not yet.

    Anyways, 3 bikers!

AND finished painting the Nob tripping on bullet shells.

He really only needs his base done now... which is an essential part I know. Sorry for the crummy pics, I'll work on getting some good ones up soon.

I will post something else in a moment... I need all of your opinions on the matter below!!!

Re: Grimteff's WAAAGH! A Slow & purposeful log

Look what I got in the mail today!!!!!!!!!!!!

A SKULLHAMMA!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Very excited to get this bad boy all done up nice n' Orky like! I need to add some glyphs and other fixin's n' know-wots...

I bought it used (clearly) courtesy of Grimm Toof. A big thank you goes out to him!! He still has a sale thread up and running with some great deals. The guy is a great seller! (that turned out to be a shameless plug )

Anyways, here is the dilemma I find myself in. If you can't already tell, the front ram broke off in transport... it's a big model, I would have been shocked if nothing got busted up on the way.

That's what it would look like with the ram, but I'm thinking of replacing it with something else. The only question is, replace it with WHAT?!

A huge Deff Rolla? An new ram? I'm thinking of the latter, using bits from the stompa and deff dread.

So what is everyone else's thoughts on the matter?! How would I go about making a huge Deff Rolla or Ram?

Any help/comments would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

you could amke a new ram with plasticard, with little sheets perpindicular to each other sharpened and coming out of a larger sheet. i think that would be better than a rolla on a big tank like that.

HAHAHA I just noticed that!!! Oh geez.

Ya, my thumbs bend at weird angles. It creeps a lot of people out! but makes for a good conversation starter.

Good eye Hypaspist. And enjoy the ork skin. You'll be pleased with how quick it is to complete.

Re: Grimteff's WAAAGH! A Slow & purposeful log

    I'm ALIVE!!!!!

The Orks have been sitting on the back burner since I picked up 8th Edition WFB... But no more! I've accumulated quite a few more models for the Orks, and in an attempt to feel less overwhelmed, I've been inspired to actually finish some boyz!!!!!!!!

And here they are. (sorry in advance, camera died but wanted to post asap, so I used my phone!!!)

    Finished Bosses:

    20 Shoota Boyz:

    First 10 -

    second 10 -

    More to come.

Re: Grimteff's WAAAGH! A Slow & purposeful log

    MORE!!!!!!!!!

12 Choppa Boyz w. the nob from the beginning of the plog fully painted (finally)

    And their trukk

Another squad of 12 Choppa Boyz

    And their trukk

That's it for now, I'd post a WIP of the other shoota boyz I'm working on so i can run 2 squads of 20 led by a Nob and two big shootas each, but I'm limited to 6 photos and don't feel like posting again! So you'll have to take my word on the fact I'm actually doing stuff lol.

Oh... and another small update, found a leather hole punch to make rivets for the Skullhamma... SO happy I found one!! Slowly working on that too, hoping to eventually have it primed.

Next up on the painting block:
    1. 14 shoota boyz, 4 big shootas, 2 nobz
    2. 10 Lootas
    3. Probably 3 Killa Kanz (with magnetized arms!!)

Re: Grimteff's WAAAGH! A Slow & purposeful log

Another "small" update on a not-so-small tank...

Been working on the rivets for the skullhamma, and with the recent postal lockout here in Canada lifted, something I've been waiting for for the tank has finally arrived.

    New smoke stack!!

I'll probably throw some I-beams underneath the new stack for some "support" :P. Obviously there is still some work to be done with this tank.

Next photo set will either be of more painted boyz or (hopefully) a primed Skullhamma

Davidian - Thanks for the comment. I'm pretty happy with it!

    UPDATE!

Here's the Skullhamma all ready to be primed!! (Sorry for the poor photos, I'm still using my phone for pictures as I wait for a new camera)

    More to come!!

Oh ya, and I finally finished my squad of 15 Lootas! Now all that's left to do is paint them.

Love the Ork skin mate, it's turned out really well.

You might have already mentioned it, but where/what are the smokestacks from? They're terrifically Orky!
