Imperial Fists WIP.

Hi guys, I've just started working on my Imperial Fist army, it basically started with me having a go at painting yellow, and I decided I really enjoyed painting it, so I started my Fists.

This is the guy that got it started.







I think he's one of the best mini's I've done so far, I'm quite pleased

I went on to start a Tactical Squad, well, a test squad rather.









I'm fairly happy, my next squad will have the GW IF pads, and I might buy the Templar upgrade pack to spruce them up a little.

Also, here's my first scout, first time painting camo, but I think it's ok.

Nice Fists - How did you go about painting and shading the yellow?

It might just be the photo, but the vereran looks more darkly shaded than the tac squad? He looks the better for it if he is.

Any idea what company colours you're going to use?

It's quite easy to achieve though.

Chaos Black under coat >
Iyanden Darksun (Watered down, 2 layers to get good coverage) >
Gryphonne Sepia wash all over >
A second wash of Gryphonne Sepia, but only to the recesses.
Golden Yellow, probably about 5-6 coats until it's even
50:50 Golden Yellow mix to highlight.

I think the shading looks darker on the Vet is because the recesses are deeper as it's a metal model.

I think I'm going to go with the 5th company, I think as they're the ones with black trim, I tried red on an AOBR mini and wasn't a huge fan.

I will add Red though, for Robes, Cloths, Purity seals etc.

Really nice work mate, they look really cool, great to see more fists on here aswell.

dunno if you've tried this yet but after you've done the wash if you apply a thin coat of darksun you can get the yellow on in about two coats, just worth a try sometimes.

Are you going to be including loads of heavy firepower to fit the siege theme? vindicators and dreadnoughts and such?

Hey Dejay, I really like your Imperial Fists (but then again I am biased). I started mine in much the same way...I was bored one afternoon and so painted up a yellow space marine and have not looked back since!

It will be good to see how you paint up your veterans (ie helmet colours and stuff) and also your vehicles as these are some of the challenges I have faced whilst painting up my force of the Emperor's finest

I'll be adding a few tanks and more heavy weapons definitely. I love the new Venerable Dread, so I'll be sure to pick one up.

I've been on the look out for some sort of Siege Shield, similar to what the Vindicator has to put on my Rhino's. I think it makes them look 'bulkier' and built to take punishment. We'll see what I can get a hold of

It's easier than you think to paint yellow isn't it? I always thought it would be really hard or time consuming but it's not really that bad.

I think I'll be painting the Vets helmets white, as I'm quite experienced with painting it because of my Son's Of Orar. Maybe I'll add a red stripe.

Yeah, I don't have a HQ at the moment, so I may aswell go for the man himself

Best looking Darksun-based Fists I've seen in ages (I build up from Vomit Brown, go figure). Do keep it up.
