Nope. Each expansion is a stand alone expansion.

Correct- all you need to use any one expansion is the Talisman game.

Just out of curiousity, since I am new to FFG Talisman, how long does it take from the release of a preview, to the actual in-store release of the expansion? My guess would be problably two months. but does anyone remember the timefram from when Frostmarch/ Dungeon/ Reaper were previewed through release?

I don't think it was quite that long for The Reaper expansion, however Im suppose it may vary with each release depending on what else FFG has going on.

Another preview of a new character :

A man of legend, the Highlander has made himself known throughout the realms. Stories of his courage and feats of strength are told in awe. He has braved the Crags on many occasions and has even ventured into the furthest reaches of the Chasm and returned in one piece.

Other stories are told about the Highlander in whispers; mocking stories of how he once knocked himself unconscious when battling a wild boar, or when he charged into a horde of skeletons only to throw himself off a cliff. Of course, these stories are never told in his presence.

As rumors of the great power awaiting in The Highland continue to attract new adventures, it’s time to take a look at another character willing to brave the domain of the Eagle King. First we looked at the resourceful Alchemist, and two weeks ago we witnessed the seductive power of the Vampiress. Today we will look at the mighty Highlander.

Talisman veterans will certainly have heard of this enigmatic wanderer. No stranger to inhospitable environments, the Highlander knows the twisting paths of the Crags and has seen the depths of the Chasm. His knowledge of the land gives him the option to not roll a die when he lands on either the Crags or the Chasm.

A ruthless protector of his home, the Highlander may also draw additional Adventure cards while in the Hills. If a battle ensues, the Highlander can choose to charge, enabling him to add +2 to his attack score. However, if he does so, his recklessness will cost him his next turn!

Keep your eyes on the horizon as the journey to The Highland looms ever closer!

    a bit more info

Over the past several weeks, as we’ve awaited the imminent release of The Highland, we’ve caught glimpses of some of the adventurers preparing to scale the mountain. The clever Alchemist, alluring Vampiress, and hearty Highlander are just a few of the brave heroes competing for power and treasure. But what dangers await them at the summit’s peak?

The Eagle King rules from high atop the Eyrie, watching over his beloved realm. Armed with a number of powerful Relics, he fends off all the invaders that seek to despoil the Highland. However, as the the quest for the Crown of Command draws forth all forms of heroes and villains, the Eagle King’s legendary Relics quickly become coveted weapons, tempting all power-seekers!

Encountering the Eagle King is no easy task. Anyone wishing to dethrone this magical entity must first brave the dangerous Highland. Only those that are able to travel all the way up to the Eyrie without getting knocked back down to the Crags will be able to challenge the Eagle King. And once the challenge is made, get ready for a fight!

Anyone able to best the Eagle King randomly selects one of his four Relics, all of which hold great power. Having control of any of these will greatly help you on your quest for the Crown of Command.

One of these great Relics is the Eagle King’s very mount! Once dismounting the Eagle King, a victorious Crown-seeker has the chance of saddling the legendary Dreadwing.

This enormous raptor is capable of carrying its rider twice as fast as they would normally move. And on a lucky roll, Dreadwing can soar to any space within the same Region!

In addition to speed and vigilance, the Eagle King also protects his realm with powerful weapons. The Windlord Amulet is a powerful magic weapon that can greatly aid its wielder in psychic combat.

These are only two of the Eagle King’s powerful Relics, and even if he is defeated by another character, the powerful magics of the Highland will bring him back at full strength. Any following challengers will have a chance at the Eagle King’s remaining Relics, and a new contender for the Crown of Command will emerge from the Highland!

    Another update..

Legends speak of a mighty warrior sent from the heavens to protect and reward those who attain glory through valorous deeds. The holy light shines down on her and those that follow her on her path.

The release of The Highland is drawing near, and soon Talisman players will get to explore a whole new region on a colorful new board. This new region brings new challenges, as well as new adventurers to face them. Previously we looked at the Highlander, the Alchemist, and the Vampiress, and we caught a glimpse of some of the Relics awaiting you at the summit's peak. Today we will witness the holy power of the Valkyrie!

Blessed by the gods, the Valkyrie is a competent fighter, adding 1 to her attack score in battle. Her prowess in combat will give her an edge should she brave the challenging foes that lurk in the Highland.

As a spirit of resurrection, she is also able to commune with the spirits of the dead. The Valkyrie can take full advantage of the Graveyard. She may pray upon the tombstones and possibly gain additional fate as if she were of evil alignment. This combined with the Chapel gives the Valkyrie even more of a chance to be heard by the gods.

Finally, anyone brave enough to travel with the Valkyrie will earn great reward. Any of followers of the Valkyrie can be resurrected when killed, allowing her to keep her loyal company!

The Crown of Command awaits. High atop the Eyrie the Eagle King wields powerful relics to aid you in your quest. Your journey to the Highland will begin soon...

I do like the way that FFG releases the rules for these supplements online.

You can get most FFG rules on the website, it's really useful for previewing a game or checking up on that rule from last night you were unsure about while you're at work.

I am not sure if anyone has been waiting for this or not, but FFG and other online retailers have The Highlands up for sale now.

...Just wanted to pass that along.

    And like further manna from..well...shops...

The endless struggle between the spirits of light and the forces of darkness is escalating. Mighty heroes are called to choose their alignment and fight to prove themselves worthy, for Judgement Day approaches...and war between the heavens and the abyss is about to begin.

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of The Sacred Pool! This latest expansion for the classic board game Talisman brings new excitement and tension to your quest for the Crown of Command.

Four new playable characters join the race for power, and never-before-seen Alternate Ending cards ensure ample replayability. Meanwhile, Stable cards bring you useful equestrian followers, and Quest Reward cards give new incentives to complete the perilous Warlock Quests! In addition, The Sacred Pool presents new reasons to watch your character’s alignment.

The inclusion of Neutral Alignment cards allow you to follow new paths in Talisman and possibly receive greater rewards...if you choose the right side.

The Sacred Pool introduces a number of optional variant rules that can be combined individually or as a whole to your Talisman games. If you would prefer a new, versatile end game, then simply include the Alternate Ending cards.

One of the most exciting new additions that The Sacred Pool brings to Talisman are the Quest Reward cards. Previous expansions presented more ways to receive a variety of quests, however until now the ultimate reward for doing quests did not offer any reason to continue questing more than once in a single game. Quest Reward cards provide tempting new motivations to undertake the Warlock Quests, giving players new powers and treasures.

In addition, The Sacred Pool presents new reasons to watch your character’s alignment. The inclusion of Neutral Alignment cards allow you to follow new paths in Talisman and possibly receive greater rewards...if you choose the right side.

The Sacred Pool comes with 4 new characters, 72 new Adventure cards, 16 new Spell cards, 24 Quest Reward cards, and much more! Don’t be the last one to reach the Crown of Command and glimpse into the sacred waters to see if you are worthy of power...

Check back often as we reveal more information on The Sacred Pool!
