Imperial vostroyan

i have recently been approached by quite a few people at my local gaming club asking if i could paint/ convert/ build some figures for them as a comission so i decided to make a log about the various ones i will be doing. i will try to keep it as regular as i can depending on how many comissions i get so far iv had two people wonting them and this is the first iv undertaken.

one of my good friends at my local gaming club has recently bought an imperial gaurd vostroyan army and due to his slight disability he cannot paint his figures so he has came to me and asked if i would paint some for him.

so i took squad commander and 4 heavy flamer from him as he mounts them as his scream and burn unit in a vendeta. ( it hurts iv felt it )

so this is how they stand at the moment i have rebased them with some slating and i have pinned them in so they aint coming of and i am going to be spraying them tonight and starting work on them as soon as they are dry. p.s sorry for the pictures they models dont show up great because of the flash.





just in case you were wondering he has give me a theam of black red, gold and purple to work off so it should turn out interesting.

Do him a favour and leave the purple alone! Aside from that I can't really comment until the painting starts, good luck.

well my plan is to wash the purple with badab black and same with the gold but these are i suppose test figures so i can easy repaint if he doesnt like but ill have to see once paint touches fig. and thanks for the luck cheeres.

ok so they are all under coated and i have started the gold on one of the flamer( not all the gold is done the minor details will be added later on)



@Ferran: i have decided not to go with the purple i am going to be using midnight blue instead.

Nice start. I think I prefer red vostroyans but the customer is always right!

yes i agree i also like them red but for this unit i think i am going to paint the commander red just to give a bit of variation to the unit. updates coming soon. thanks for the comments

UP DATE!!!

one flamer is compleated and is ready for basing of which my client has requested a snow them for them. and the unit commander has all his gold done and i am in the process of painting his uniform now ill keep you updated.

Yeah looks good actually. Going from the initial description I got the feeling that red/purple would be main colours but I see now that red is an ancillary, which is fine I think (as evidenced by the pics). You seem to get stuff done fast without the paintjob suffering, nice work

ok so my client got in contact with me today and decided that he didnt wont the comander to be red....after i had painted him!!! but customers figures so he wonted the commander to be in the same uniform as the unit and iv just finished him now so here he is along with the flamer that i finished previously. enjoy

i have another two flamer on the block and there gold is done just waiting for the wash to dry so i can start the uniforms ill keep you updated as ever.

iv finished another two flamer's only one left to do and this comission is finished woop!!!

They look absolutely wicked! I thought maybe the purple which andy suggested would be iffy with the red, buuuuut i never imagined them like this, they look sweeeet!

so iv just finished the final flamer of the unit and they are all ready for snow basing which i will be doing either tomorrow or later tonight if the mood takes me. so i hope you enjoy and i will add to the blog when i finish the squad and when the next comission come in thanks for the comments.

@Smarine14: thank i am glad you like them and to your question no not really lol i stayed up till 2 last night painting and from 12 till 9 today painting these vostroyan so 11 hours on these guys in total

right the comission is done they have been snowed upon and ready to go to my client thanks for shareing this one with me hope to be back on this log soon with more work.

Imperial gaurd ogren and psykers

hey once again guys iv got another comission for you's to see through its stages again. this is for the same client i done the vostroyan for and basically the same coulour scheam with some slight variations for the psykers the ogren is a tester model for his squad as he has quite an amount of ogren's


so this is them on the block so far the ogren is the only one with any real basing work one them the psykers might just have snow at the moment.

sorry about the lighting my camera is not great at this moment in time for the unpainted white metal figs.
