    Borsil finishes some armies....hopefully....

Salutations once again folks of Warseer!
I decided to close my last log with the completion (for now) of my Mortal Chaos army - rounding it off at around the 6000pts mark.
My project for this year is now to complete some of the myriad armies I have laying around gathering dust, in the hopes of appeasing 'teh wife' into letting me get more!
I'm also determined to actually get off my backside and head along to the Edinburgh League of Gamers and return to being a gamer rather than the collector I seem to have became over the past decade since leaving school...

At the moment sitting dormant beneath my (very untidy!) work desk

are around: 1500pts of Tau, currently stripped of their old paint and awaiting my attention
2000pts + Imperial Guard badly in need of a repaint
AoBR Orks that I plan to expand up to 1500-2000pts- currently not even off the sprue.
800pts of Witch Hunters which need repainted and new units bought to bring them up to 1500pts

I decided to start on the Tau, since they are the army I have given least attention to since buying- I have at least taken the guard and WH out for a couple of skirmishes but the tau were painted first maybe 8 years ago and have never seen the battlefield!
My old scheme, which I loved at the time but I have grown to detest:

And the new scheme which, so far, I much prefer!

For the bases I'm currently thinking something similar to this:

but with a bit of dead grass static grass patched on for the arid, mineral rich wasteland I'm going for!

    C&C most welcome!

I really like the alternate colour scheme you've gone for with the Kroot and the Tau scheme you've chosen really comes into it's own on the vehicles.

Anything else in the works now you've finished the Tau?

Thumbs up Re: Borsil finishes some armies....hopefully....

Good, But...but... have you done the lenses to the drones?

That very clean looking scheme... makes them look very advanced in technology.

    Keep the Orks coming!

Damn it yeah I missed the lenses!

Thanks, it took quite a few dry runs to get the scheme right but I'm now very happy with it- the army looks awesome together in my opinion. Just need to find time to get some battles in now! Hoping to get some painting done tomorrow AM before work and get some pics up

Managed to get some time last night to bash some paint on the first ork- just a practice model to try out Ork skin- not used to painting greenskins so any tips/comments are welcome!

Thanks I think it looks better in the pic than in real life though Wondering if a wash of green or maybe yellow might help?

The Ork's skin looks good, any plans for which clan colours you'll be following?

Painting is nice and clean on those Tau, looking good. I love your bases, very cool and thematic. You just going to leave the edges black? I'd suggest a test of Dark Flesh around the rims to see how it looks.

Hehe yeah,I'm noticing a trend towards bad moons. Think I will go with goff, had an army of them back in the rogue trader/ 2nd ed times so might be nice to revisit:-)
CotW, was wondering if I should paint the edges, might dig out some dark flesh next time I'm painting and see how it looks :-) thanks for the comments

May very well take you up on that- though you'd probably need to keep me right with the rules- only played 2 games this year!

    Update:
Have decided to go with a clan of my own creation- the Bloody Toof's - the fluff behind them has them being kind of like blood axes, with a large amount of kommando's/liking camo (though not understanding what camo is supposed to do!), but also having a large amount of storm boyz. Should have pic updates tomorrow night!
