Meltaguns. Same answer for all-comers too.

Hay guys what do you recon to this list. I think its fun to play not to competative low scoring troops and all my eggs in one basket but when it hits it hits like a fraight train.
HQ
Astorath the grim 220
Troops
10 Death company 200 (Astorath goes here)

So the idea is if I get first turn good things happen but no mater what happens the Baal preds always scout to put a big distraction in there face. What do you guys think
Alright. How do you guys deal with Imotekh Necrons, as I've been paired against them twice in the last 2 tournaments and lost both times, and one of my regular opponents plays them as well, and I'm 2-1 against him.
Background; I play primarily 1500 point mech lists lead by Mephiston
250 Mephiston
50 Sanguinary Priest
166 5 Assault marines, melta-gun, las/plas razorback, searchlight
166 5 Assault marines, melta-gun, las/plas razorback, searchlight

100 2 Attack bikes, multi-meltas
126 Blood Talon Furisio Dread, Searchlight
201 Stormraven, searchlight
That's what I took to the last tourny. Basically the game goes like this;
-He's going to get the first turn 2/3 times due to the improved seize. Hell, I had an opponent choose to take the second turn so I was forced to deploy first, then seize off of me basically allowing him to match up his units against mine however he wanted.
-My list is mostly mid to long range, and that doesn't work when it's night fight until turn 5 every game (EVERY GAME, I kid you not, 5 for 5 lasting until turn 5). This forces me to get extremely close as fast as possible. Obviously this gives them the advantage, as they win the close range shooting war, and being forced to get in close means Spyders, wraiths, lychguard and Scarabs are a big threat to my guys.
-The lightning is....unreal. It basically solos half of my army. First game I had against them it nuked a razor and pred and immobed my raven first turn. Then immobed my dread and nuked a second razor the second turn. Second tourny game saw me lose both preds and a razor first turn, my raven second and my dread third turn. I can see no way around this other then "Hope he rolls less 6s", which is not a tactic or strategy.
-The night fighting forces me to play his game, aka, get close and fight face to face. It gets into a unit trading match where I lose something to kill something. It's extremely inelegant and not at all how I like to play. I prefer to surgically take my opponents apart one unit at a time, but that's not possible with an average shooting range of like 21".
-5 Games and I still haven't killed Imotekh himself. 2+/3++ and ever-living while hiding in a warrior or immortal unit as far away from the action as possible makes it extremely difficult to get to him.
Countering individual units isn't a problem, I know how to deal with anything they can throw at me except the bloody night fight crap. I think it's a matter of properly using the search lights and not trying to slow down in mid field and take some las/plas shots, I should be moving 18"+ a turn full out and just dealing with them up close and personal like.
It's not difficult to dream up an army list that will counter this, as there are units available that don't fear the lightning (Land Raiders, terminators and jump infantry for example) but I still have to deal with all the other armies out there as well, including a top notch SW player, so I don't want to make too many concessions for fighting necrons.
Any other thoughts or experiences?

Short answer - yep.
Long answer - your list is sitting mid way between a shooty and assault list, and not being good at either. You don't have enough scoring units either, and as you're probably aware fitting a Raven, Furioso and Mephiston into a competitive 1500 list is a no go.
I'd ditch the Raven and Dread, and get more troops in. If you want to run Mephiston, I'd get heavy Flamer Razors with Dozer Blades and Melta/Infernus ASM for an aggresive list. If you prefer to stand off and shoot, than a Shield Libby with Las/Plas or AC Razors is the way forward
I would have assumed a Descent of Angels list led by Dante and loading up with Vanguard so you have a rock-hard assault unit that can appear next to and charge anything. See Imotekh hide from that!
Heya,
This is just for Schnits and Grins here, but I read the BA Codex and was inspired to write a list. More than likely the same list that's been posted here a dozen times, but who has the time to go through 171 pages of "These mans are better than those mans"?
So, what are your thoughts?
Astorath 220
Psycho Tycho 175
Death Company 200
*LR Redeemer (Xarm) DT 255
Death Company 350
*w/jump packs
*w/Lemartes 150
Death Company Dread 140
w/Grapple & blood talons
That's 1490pts and who knows how many kill points. Oh, and also about $250, if ordered via the interwebs.
You couldn't hold any objectives, but who cares? You just want to kill everything anyway, right?
Spleen Hammer
Sometimes when all that is needed is a scalpel, a sledge hammer will suffice...
Well, as you point out, you don't have any scoring units. You also can't deal with mech. If that sounds fun to you, then go for it
In a fit of insanity, I've ended up with 5 drop pods. Anyone tried running a BA drop pod based list? There's something entertaining about dropping a bunch of guys down, knowing that even my luck won't result in mishapped dudes. Any thoughts?
1850pts Imperial Guard
Painted: Vendetta Gunship, 50 guardsmen, Marbo, 4 Chimeras, Manticore, Leman Russ, Valkyrie Carrier, 20 Veterans, 5 Ogryns.
2500pts Blood Ravens
Painted: 30 Assault, 10 Tactical Marines, 5 Terminators, 2 priests, 2 Librarians, Land Raider, 2 Predators, Rhino,
Unpainted: 1 priest, 1 attack bike, 1 lascannon, err... A shadowsword.
It depends what kind of list you want to run, but generally drop pods aren't very good.
Nothing wrong with the odd pod to ds a Furioso though
hey guys, I used to play Blood Angels in 3th, and after starting 40K again last year, I've always had some kind of love for them.
Question is, are they any good? (my other armies are Vanilla Marines, wich'll become the BA then, and GK's).
What would a standard army list be at 1850pts?
thx!!

I just bought a Baal Predator.
What's the best weapon Layout for it??

Twin-linked assault cannons, heavy bolters.
Heavy flamers are never worth it, and flamestorm is... situational.

An outflanking baal with a flamestorm can find a use even against non marine armies.
However, I too am not massively sure if having heavy flamers too is entirely worth it... A lot of the time, I wonder just running the flamestorm unupgraded would do the job, or even just the heavy bolters if you get immobilised etc, or for plinking at rear armour if you are in the worst case scenario of there being nothing within 12 inches of a flank you can set on fire.

Does anyone run Tycho (either version)? If so, which one and how do you run him.
I have a decent amount of SM stuff sitting around that needs to be assembled and painted. I havent been able to make a decision on which chapter to build, so I wrote down all the things that I have always enjoyed (in fluff and models). I have always really liked the Baal predator and I have always been interested in Tycho. I plan on picking up two Tycho models and painting them as both versions.
Thanks

Tycho is my favorite Blood Angels character, however he doesn't really fit into a typical assault oriented Blood Angels build.
I would say he's at his best if you want to build a "Codex" army with tactical squads and Sternguard.
I wouldn't use Death Company Tycho. A single model without Mephiston's stats is just begging for a lascannon to the face.
