Re: Bunkers, barricades and battlefield bits

    Very nice mate
Is the pilot in the cockpit included in the set or is it a modification of your own ?? It sure is a shame that fw doesn't sell these any more.

Re: Bunkers, barricades and battlefield bits

Cheers matie, the crew were all a bits box mash up. I've not had my painting head on for a few months, but have managed to finish off this and the bits of old FW modular wall I picked up on eBay:

This piece was reconstructed from a pile of over twenty broken pieces found in a grab bag

Next should be getting back to Ad Mech and a certain unfinished tank . . .

Cheers TDA, that tanks been taunting me, I managed to snap off the servo arm, as in snapped the metal clean in half . . .

@ GBH : It's a nice piece, very solid. Would probably look better in a lighter colour, but I wanted it to match my uncrashed Valk so continuity kicked in.

Excellent work. Items like this really add a lot to the visual effect of miniatures gaming. No computer game could ever give the sheer visual pleasure a pair of nicely painted armies on well done terrain can. You are certainly an artist.

Always great to see such nicely painted terrain pieces. Playing on a board with those must be really cool. Very good work!

Re: Bunkers, barricades and battlefield bits

Haha snapped the metal in half??? How in the god-emperors name did you do that?

Damn I so want to own some of those OOP fw ruins, stupid forge world is taunting me from the past (and you to mate) :P

Do you have a table to put all these on ?? if not I think they deserves a well made urban board with roads and such to go with them

Re: Bunkers, barricades and battlefield bits

@ Mikial & Stempe : Thanks a lot for the kind comments, much appreciated.

TDA, I have a cupboard, under a book shelf in which I hide things from the cat; I have all the WIP Ad Mech stuff in a box which fits (just) on top of another box of items on the cat's hit list, except for the bloody servo arm which sits a little too high. Unfortunately I didn't notice the lack of room until the servo was bent at a right angle. Straightened it no prob, but it was weaker, doing it again during a low IQ moment sheared it right off. Now needs pining and a careful owner - it is however at the top of my to-do list !!

Yes, stupid FW taunts me incesently - I want REALM-OF-BATTLE-IMPERIAL-STRONGPOINT because it's there (not like I have any of the plastic tiles). I do however have 4 x sheets of 2' x 4' MDF, a load of insulation foam, textured filler, loads of tubes of various shades of brown acrylic paint, loads of resin terrain pieces, four packs of FW barbed wire etc etc and a cunning plan.

    Difficult to find new superlatives!
I really don't know the one I prefer between the crashed Valkyrie and the building...
    Wonderful details on both.

    Cheers chaps.

Latest eBay find, an old FW Command bunker. It's missing its door and the radar dish from the roof, but it does still have one of the internal chairs:

Re: Bunkers, barricades and battlefield bits

I've cleaned it up a bit and made a door, not got anything to use as a radar dish at the mo so that will have to wait. Dug out some crew . . .

Man you sure do nice terrain pieces! Love the crashed Valkyrie. The bunker model is a bit... lacklustre, but you spruced it up real nice with all them bitz!! I still have a Micro Art bunker lying about. Perhaps I should paint that up one day as well...
Do you think they would have bunkers underground in Necromunda?

Cheers for the feedback. The FW bunkers are/were all a bit bland and functional, this one actually reminds me a bit of the Micro Arts one.
I also have one that I never fully finished, glad you mentioned that. I'll dig it out and finish it off at the same time:

Re: Bunkers, barricades and battlefield bits

It is a nice piece, isn't it? Glad I could be of help! >_<

Looking through your log entirely (instead of actually working, as I am supposed to do), I must say... You probably have the most extensive collection of quality terrain pieces ever, and they are very well painted to boot.

Now, be a doll and putt ALL your scenery on a table, throw some IG and perhaps some Chaos or whatever through it, and take some pics! I bet it would look amazing all on a table.

    Ash,

Really like the Command Bunker. And a table picture would be good.
