This thread is for all the foot-slogging, cavalry mounted, artillery manning, men, women and mutants of the Imperial Guard!

I thought it was about time that the back bone of the guard got their own thread. We all love tanks but what about the guys who march alongside them? So if you have a any conversions, tips, tricks or just want to show off your latest squad then post them here for all to see.

My most recent conversion, a prototype for a WW1 German themed force.

Fantastic German. The skin on the arms of the other blokes look great too. Can you do a tute on the skin? It seems, at that size at least, to strike a good balance between the appearance of depth and normal skin.

To be honest i cant actually remember the recipe personally, all i can remember is that i blatantly stole it from spikyjames so all credit should go to him

Edit: I trawled through spikyjames plog and found the recipe.

Tallarn flesh first highlight
50/50 tallarn flesh/elf flesh next highlight

final highlight 50/50 elf flesh/skull white

How did you do the helmet on the German?

All i cans say at the moment is some plasticard, a fair bit of filing and a bit of G.S. Im going to be doing a detailed tutorial in my plog soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Did you base your troops on the mid-20th Century Cold War? I always get that image for some reason looking at your troops wilsonian.

Here's what I have completed of The Royal Enfield Fusiliers, an IG regiment based on the Old Regular Army of 1914.

Great conversions. How have I missed your log? EDIT: Ah, no, I didn't miss it, I just haven't checked it for several years...

As for me, I'll just highlight some various conversions I like. Firstly is an example of nine different special weapons made entirely in plastic, with different poses. No need to buy the expensive and repetitive metal figures.



Next are Sanctioned Psykers. Again, entirely plastic with no identical models. Just root through all available boxes and sprues for the various different greatcoats, and swap the Astropathicus staffs around a little.



Here's a lascannon with power cabling made out of headphone wire. Very simple, and allows you to have long flexible cable for many different poses. Also an autocannon with the loader in the midst of changing the ammunition box.



Finally, the WFB Empire army has an excellent selection of plastic banners to use for standards. As they are blank, it also allows you to create your own insignia and iconography (in this case, my regiment's symbol is a winged hammer) to use instead.

As long as its Imperial guard and not a vehicle then its welcome in this thread. (Not that i hate vehicles, just that they have their own thread)

I know this is a dig up from the first page (i'll have more comments later, just started reading)

However, these in no way resemble lancers from the Napoleonic age. They are more akin to eastern/central European knights of the renaissance. Napoleonic lancers were unarmored, as were most of the forces fighting during the 20 year period. The only thing close to these models would be Curiassers, and they were almost always armed with sabres and did not have any armor on the shoulders, upper arms, wrists, or legs.
