As I just said to Gorman, this goes back a ways so I hope you still remember how you did this. I'm trying to re-start the work on my IG based on the American Civil War Union army and I'm having trouble with shading and highlighting both the dark blue tunics and the pale blue pants. If you recall how you accomplished the pale blue on these guys, I'm a step closer. Thanks in advance.
Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will explain it to you.

Last one folks. This is the same question as for Captain Brown. I'd really like to know how you did the pale blue. If I can get answers, I'm looking forward to applying the techniques to my boys and posting them here.

Cheers and Happy Holidays to all.

He is mainly a composit of 3 FW figures, built from a Death Korps Commissar with the head from the commander of the renegade command squad and the torso from a rogue psyker (the one with the star on his chest).

Basically the commissars chest was hollowed out and the psykers chest was trimmed to fit and the gaps filled with green stuff. The claw arm is built from plasticard and half a air filter (cut from the back of a renegade trooper). The bolt pistol is a cut down variant of the one from the renegade enforcer kit. The head is slightly modified with a bionic eye made of a small piece of brass tube and green stuff.

You can't see it in this image but he also has the enforcer helmet on his belt behind his left arm.
Thanks!! All that work paid off

Two of my guardsmen, soon to be painted over, but still looking ok, despite not being based.

Some troops from my desert world Gaurd army; the 3rd/42nd Pargae'yn Patthak Besenger Squadron.

    Basic troopers with Autoguns.

The later one's based off of a Tau fire warrior-I wound up with four boxsets of them and don't play Tau. The backpack on the first guy is from Secret Weapon Miniatures, and the Aks are from Maxi-mini.

    Flame trooper.

The flamethrower's made from a lasgun, a length of spear and the end of a sisters of battle flamer. His fuel tanks are from the old tank upgrade sprue's heavy flamer turned on its side and shortened.

Platoon Command Squad Colonel (or whatever you call the leader).

Again another fire warrior. Like the other one the head's from Maxi-mini and the power fist in her left hand is a conversion based off of the ballistic fist from Fallout:New Vegas.

    Company Commander

A cadian's legs and torso, armoured arms from the Empire free company, and head from the empire flagellant (the one in the stocks). His Oxygen tanks are a guard flamer's fuel tanks. ^^

    Usually, Lieutenant.

Nice use of bits, definitely a very unique army. Will definitely follow this.

    @ Shrapnel

I've got a blog for them over on Dakka Dakka, though the earlier pictures are a bit fuzzy...and a wierd toy baby keeps on appearing in the later ones. ^^

    http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum...st/387629.page

Plus I'm just doodling some concepts for some more infantry at the moment, youknow to kind of get the look of the army centered (I've been alternating between Laurence of Arabia and the Norts from 2000AD...which...ah...has led to them being a bit of a mish mash really). There's probably some older stuff on my DeviantArt page, but don't quote me on that. =)

One of the guys from my Special Operations type unit that I finished some time ago. In game they would count as either SM Scouts or =I= henchmen. Its a five man team, all that remains of their regiment - although I might retcon this up to 10 if I build a half track for them. Anyway here is one (the rest of the team and fluff for each team member can be found in my sig link):

Stupid question, but which Maxmini pack is the head from? I did a trawl of their store but couldn't spot it

Scratch that. They're actually from Micro Art Studio. I didn't order them direct from the site, so I couldn't remember them by heart. ^^

http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/w...set-p-360.html Second from the left of this set I take it? Interesting... I hadn't rated those heads particularly highly from their shots, but it doesn't look to shabby on your model *scratches head*

    @ biggreengribbly

They're for true scale 28mm ture scale figures, but yeah they look alright enough on heroic scale ones too (being about the same size as the Sisters of Battle ones). I would note that on some the noses lack definition, like on the trooper with the Ak, and because they're resin this can be made worse pretty easily by having them broken off. =P

    Awesome psychers!

If cavalry is allowed, here comes mine . I read the Vostroyan 22nd Firstborn Regiment uses rough riders under the name of Hussars, so I converted mine to resemble napoleonic times lancers.

I know this is a dig up from the first page (i'll have more comments later, just started reading)

However, these in no way resemble lancers from the Napoleonic age. They are more akin to eastern/central European knights of the renaissance. Napoleonic lancers were unarmored, as were most of the forces fighting during the 20 year period. The only thing close to these models would be Curiassers, and they were almost always armed with sabres and did not have any armor on the shoulders, upper arms, wrists, or legs.

I'd guess at a missile launcher? Excellent conversions on all three! Especially the heavy bolter!
