40K gaming board, with trench warfare

Recently got back into gaming and, as I have now registered on the forum, thought I would share the board I have been building.
It consist's of a trio of 2X3 chip board sheets giving a 6X3 gaming surface. Only 2 of the boards are pictured am still playing with ideas for the third.

Used expanding foam to build up the contours and then covered the board with modrock.

Made up a mixture of sand, pva glue and water and gave the board a coating.

At the moment am working my way through detailing up the trench's. I have purchased some matchsticks and am busy making up some fence work, have lost count of the amount of match stick's I have used!
Thanks for looking and any comments welcome

Looking really good. What other details are you going to add to it? I can certainly see a few machine gun pits overlooking the battlefield, Nice work

I really like the idea of using the foam, haven't seen that yet. Did you use it for anything else but hills?

Cheers can't actually remember what gave me the idea am happy how it came out, was easy to sand to get the required contours.

Thanks. Other detailing will included building remains.
Have completed sticking the matchsticks in place and have given them a first coat.

Also started on the third segment but haven't any pics yet. Heavy focal point on that which will be revealed at a later date

Thumbs up Re: 40K gaming board, with trench warfare

It's looking very good and playable. The layout also makes sense.

You should take a peek at Col.Wales ' modular trench table; there might be some inspiration for you.
