Interesting use of the old swooping hawks wings there; makes me sad that I got rid of a whole load of 'surplus' wings that I had.

looks really good, especially like the added wings, but shouldn't Assault marines have yellow helmets.

Thank you all so much for your comments. I was a little apprehensive posting up because of the quality of the photo's, and of the painting. I painted this army a few years back, and i'm hoping to sell them soon.

@Exploding boy. Yup your absolutely right, but it never sat well with me that assault marines were demarcated in such a way. So, I decided to paint my guys all red.

    Will post up more soon.

Nice work, really like the winged shoulder pads. I think they would look good in white.

I like the old school black shoulder pad trims and golden chest eagle. much better than this all red scheme the heavy metal painters got going on. Interesting choice going with the red helmets instead of yellow too.

The wings on the veteran assault squad look a little over the top, but they're blood angels so it's ok.

THERE'S NO SCHOOL LIKE THE OLD SCHOOL!

ripped from a signature seen on this site.

Black trims all the way baby. Breaks up the mini. Not sure why Heavy metal went all red, but I guess you gotta paint them how your told.

    Talking of old school:

Trying my hand at NMM. I want to get a handle of this technique since this is the way things are going, but it's demoralizing to see the stuff Darren Lathem, and some of the french painters are producing! I mean come on, give a brother a chance to catch up.

Lord for the army. I wanted to strike a balance between angelic pomp and practical battle application.

As always I appreciate any and all things you wonderful people have to say.

Couple of things: Great use of wings on the shoulder pads, nice sculpting on the army's lord: Speaking of which, we need more angel quotes!

    "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead."

"And the dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. The beast I saw resembled an Angel, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound; but the fatal wound had been healed. Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, "Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?"

Re: Coming of the Host. Blood Angel Thread

Blood rite, or the ritualistic re-painting of a Astrates embalmed to the Death Company has several significant meanings. Firstly, and most immediate in the sufferer's experience, is the donning of the red cross. Using the member's own blood, the Astrates sanctifies his blackened armour with crosses, signifying an end to his service as an Angel Of Death, and trusting his decent to madness in the tender embraces of the Emperor's mercy. These marks are most commonly seen on the back of the hand, wrists, and shoulder pads - area's that have most contact with the enemy.
