    Sheep's birth of a xenos

Well, since the reorganisation of the forums, i've managed to avoid censure for posting pics of my xenos works in my main thread in the Imperium section, however rather then tempt fate I thought i'd set up a new thread to house all my random models.

This ofcourse leads to the Orks, which i am flirting with doing an army of. Previously i've posted these pics of the first 5 models, being a boss, a nob and 3 boyz.

I painted these guys over the weekend though

Taking the total number of orks a mahos-sive 11!

And I bought a dred However I've never been a fan of the exhausts on the new models, they look pants TBH. So I left them off and replaced them with pieces of sprue from an ASLAV kit I have half painted somewhere, It just happened to be the exact size I needed.

Still not sure on the weapons load out i should run with on this bad boy, so any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

On the subject of weapon load out:

It does depend on the rest of your army. Having some rokkits is always a good idea. However dreads aren't necessarily the best place for them. If you plan on having Kanz as well then, move the rokkits over there. For the Dread I think you do better to concentrate on the CCWs and go either 4 CCWs or 3 with Skorka.

I would go either two DCCWs and two skorchas, or all four DCCWs. Amazing looking orks by the way, can't wait to see the dred painted.

Wow! You knocked that dred out sharpish. I reckon a green eye would suit better but otherwise I like it, especially the rust effects.

    Very nice dread indeed, Sheep.
I like the orange eye, though.
This way it doesn't distract from the whole model and the earthy and pale colour palette leaving the nice green contrast to the base :-)
    Well done.

    Hi Sheep

Thankfully I'm fickle, so I roam the different sub forums at will.

That Dread.... It's pure dread, man! The freehanding around the jaw in particular is absolutely stonking!!! You need two tho hahaha- really.

Nice stuff, if this is TT standard only we can expect lots more in quick succession yes?

Didn't put that much thought into the colour theory I must admit, but glad it worked out

No special techniques, i just painted some lines on to define the check pattern, using grey, then filled them in. And went over that with white. I suppose what you need is a steady hand to get the lines straight to start.

Glad you found me There should be a bit coming soon, the dred was a reward for painting a unit of Boyz, so I have to finish another one of those, then more dready goodness, or maybe a battlewagon . . . dunno yet

WOW, looking at that dread ... it really is good. I mean it's really gritty and just like I think a goff vehicle would look. I'm especially fond of the dagz on the "collar??" of the dread.

After following your krieg log I was thinking "This guy is pretty good at painting guard." But now i'm thinking "Wow, this guy is just uber-great at painting."

Thanks alot mate, I've realised through doing these orks, that i really prefer painting things with and armour value though, losing intereset 3/4 of the way through a mob is not a good sign
