    Metal Fingers Loyalist Scum

Well heres the start of my third project log here on warseer. Not much for talking but the first project going into this thread will be my marine army. Here are some flicks of the test scheme. As always, thanks for looking and crits would be much appreciated. Cheers!

Not a huge fan of the colors on the bolter, but I do like the armour.

My only complaint is the mould lines. Otherwise I think it's a good table top standard and should look very nice for a whole army. One thing, depending on preference, would be to put a very watered down wash of the blue over the mini after the highlights are done to blend everything together. The highlights don't look bad in my opinion, but are a hair more contrasty than I would go for personally.

I rather like the bone color on the helmet. Mind if I ask how you did it? Hoping to do the armor on my sisters of battle as well as some of the armor on my dark eldar the same way.

It's funny, I don't normally like either blue or marines, but I'm very much looking forward to seeing more of this army. Do you plan on weathering them at all? Battle damage and all that? Maybe it's my bias for being a deathguard player, but it just doesn't seem right having powered armor without some scrapes and scratches.

Thanks man, yea I'm not to fond of the purple bolters either, I think at this point I will be keeping them black just so they don't attract any attention.

Thanks for the crits man and yes I agree with everything you said. This guy was painted up rather sloppily just to test out some colors, I never care much for technique or model prep when doing this as if it doesn't turn out thats just time wasted. On the bone color, if I remember correctly its Vallejo game color cobra leather highlighted with pale yellow up to pure pale yellow, then the pale yellow is highlighted with white. Then I start washing with really, really, really thin glazes of warlord purple, I think I do about 3 or 4 coats. I'll have to get back with you when I start painting the marines again. Thanks for looking though and keep checking back, there is going to be lots and lots of stuff thrown in here.Cheers.
So added a bit more washy wash here and there, highlights are still much much much to extreme for my liking so that will be changed on the rest of the army. Bolter is still purple, arghhh but they will be black on the finished doods. Cheers.

Thanks mate, I just file down everything up front and the forehead brow, and then just greenstuff em. Its important to connect the strip on the top of the head to the mouth piece, it really gives it tech feel.

I like the developed paint scheme now, yes I do. Actually, the purple bolter looks much better in the second round of pics. Tidy up that targetter and the purity seal and it will look most excellent!

I think a force of these guys would look pretty dread inspiring, that helmet lends to the look.
