    Deus, the Eldar days.

In an attempt to hurry a few things along, I will start this log.

The intention is to make me paint this Eldar stuff thats lying around gathering dust.

I have a rather sad history with the Eldar. They are the start of my addiction to this game. When I walked into the local GW store and saw the Falcon. I thought I would get one just to build on my days off. I used to build Tamiya stuff and thought this would be something to ease me back into modelling.

When they told me I could play with it too, I bought some more Eldar stuff and promptly got hooked. I never won a single game with my eldar.

Several armies later I have picked up some newer Eldar models here and there and I now have enough for a smallish Eldar force again.
As I have spent most of my Gaming life playing Salamanders and Dark Eldar, I have absolutely no idea what makes up a competetive Eldar list so basicly Im going with the models I like the look of.

At the moment I have around 25- 30 guardians 10 dire avengers 10 banshees a couple of scorpions, about 6 ish warp spiders and a handful of warlocks theres also a couple of vypers a wraithlord and possibly 3 falcons if I can undo some crappy conversion work I tried. Theres 3 farseers and a box of harlequins which I shall leave till last , mainly because the thought of painting the harlies terrifies me.

So what have I done so far?

The Storm guardians(which I have yet to build) will look like this with various head changes.

Dire Avengers will look like this.

Currently Im trying to do the rest of my Dire Averngers plus my Banshees.

Oh and the Craftworld is loosely Ulthwe, but you knew that already I guess

Excellent work. I'm loving the conversion work on the storm guardians and Dire Avengers. Your army will certainly stand out (I like that you're adding the back banner to non Dire Avenger units. Makes me happy to know I'm not the only one doing that).

As for playing the game... my suggestion is to start with the models or units you like. The more you really like a unit the more you'll work to find ways to make them work for you. I often use units that are much maligned by other players if only because I like the way they look or I figured out how to meld them into my playstyle. Get a few games in and let the army tell you what it needs.

    Re: Deus, the Eldar days.

Thank you guys, the feedback is very much appreciated.

Conversionwise, ... well.... I probably shouldnt tell you this... but...the truth is... they were originally going to be Dark Eldar. There Ive said it. Then I saw the rumours about DE being out this year so I switched out the guns on a couple I had built.... I think.... or they maybe lying around somewhere I cant remember. The important thing is they are Eldar now,... probably repented... or were on a mission for the Harlies... yeah thats it see? its all coming back to me now, yeah thats right the harlies...

Anyway.Enough of my Shady James Cagney impressions.

My vision for this army is a limited palette(palete?pallete? oh bugger it) of 3 main colours, those being bleached bone, black and liche purple. With this in mind I came across my first stumbling block tonight with my test Banshee.

The problem being does the purple power sword make it too much purple on one figure?
If so what colour to use?

Also tonight Im semi chuffed with my photies cos for once the lighting is spot on. Yay me!! Unfortunately the focus is slightly out but ho hum. One step at a time.

Oh and yes I forgot to paint the eyes and Im not sure which colour to do those either.

    Comments are welcomed.

Aye, they would have been sweet as dark eldar regardless, kind of like doghouse's stuff. Paint some more and post pictures, come on, you know you want to. Banshee is looking real good, the scheme and details of your painting are a lot easier to read with better photo's, good stuff!

    Cheers mate.

    Found the culprits!

These are the 2 I built quickly in the local gw store. They originally had splinter rifles. Now they`re Dire avengers...ahem...

Very early in the painting stages so not a lot to see really and they could do with a little greenstuff. I should have done that before I started painting, I know I know but Im not very organised.

Top work mate, I particularly love the mint first Dire Avenger and will be really looking forward to seeing how the force comes together.

I was all set to say I would repaint the Banshee Power sword in either a crystal style blue or shimmering metallic which would work nicely but to be honest the more I studied the model the more I liked it and unless it becomes to overpowering when there is a unit of them then I would leave it. A bright layered orange would work well as the eyes also in my opinion.
