Nice one![]()
Hmm, I like the current look of the ogre writing on his hand instead of a scroll. Much like I do when I'm out of paper... Could be funnier to stick with the model as it is.
Ah, Lew is back with his Ogres extraordinaire. The Steamblaster is a hell of a conversion. It look a tiny bit heavy on the left side, but I guess the lead-filled guts of the Ogre press the vehicle down to a point resembling balance.
This is getting better and better.
Wow amazing conversion Lew.![]()
Good lord! Awesomeness and win all around.
Fantasy log of...Stuff: Vampire Counts, Warriors of Chaos, Southlands Ogres, Cryx plus whatever else tickles my fancy.
When I'm done with these skaven and dark elf armies I'm gonna run into the woods and never come back. And when I come back I'm gonna be the *********** knife master.
I doubt anyone will complain when the train doesent arrive on time![]()
Oh that's excellent

Hooray! Thanks everyone! Glad to see it's well received.
Rhaivaen: You go ahead. It was a pain in the butt to make, so if you fancy subjecting yourself to that, it's all yours!
Malorian: I thought that, but it's not strictly true. It blasts cannon balls, not steam.
Lord Dan: But it's not a tank! You see the pickle I'm in!
Tcraigen: Thanks!
Tom: Ha! It's a little more dangerous than a regular train (I hope).
Grain Weevil: Thank you!
Catferret: Haha that's quite funny actually. I'll see what it looks like when he's done. Usually try to avoid the comedy on the Ogres (save it for the Gnoblars), but we'll see!
Karak Norn: Hah! Just a tiny bit heavy on one side? Ogres aren't well known for their engineering feats. In reality though, I modelled it with the cannon in the centre for most of the construction, but it was just way too tall, sitting on top of the steam barrel at the front. This way it also gets a little swivel mechanism!
N810: Cheers! God knows it took long enough...
Pointyteeth: Yay!
Punk_in_Drublic: I certainly hope your Steam Tank is easier going than mine! I haven't even begun thinking about how much of a pain this is going to be to paint yet.
Demoulius: I doubt anyone would try to get a ride without paying for a ticket either! Maybe that's what First Great Western needs to do. Hire an Ogre as a ticket collector, and attach a cannon to the front of the train. Actually, that sounds like a lot of fun!
Lord Dan: Ha! YES. If Lincoln says it, it must be true!
Queekvondrak: Thank you!

Alright, a slightly less interesting update today, but I'm going away for half of next week, so I figured more updates now would be a good replacement.
Just going to show the remaining two Gnoblars that make up the crew of the... contraption.
The first guy operates the gears we saw before, turning the big crank to rotate the cannon. He doesn't get much rotation out of it, but to be honest, I can't see either the Gnoblar or the Ogre caring that much about hitting anything!
The second one is the poor soul who has to put the gunpowder and cannonballs in the thing. He still needs a little modelling work done. Needs an eye patch and some ear plugs at the very least. All other ideas for war wounds will be considered! Maybe his feather should be burned off part way down...
Alright, that's it! The Engineer is coming along nicely. I'm part way through sculpting his writing hand, and after that he just needs some equipment added. It'll be mostly writing materials, maybe a sextant or something. Again, any requests or ideas will be taken on board!
Tomorrow we'll have pictures either of the Engineer (depending on whether his hand stops looking like he stuck it in the cannon at the wrong time), or some detail shots of the... thing. Still not keen on Steamblaster purely because of accuracy... Hmm... maybe some kind of over the top acronym...

Wow, that thing's amazing...can't wait to see it painted. Any ideas on how you're going to make the ogre more of an engineer? Tool belt, monocle, etc.?

That is just beyond incredible. This log gets better and better.
The Steamblaster is brilliant, can't wait to see it finished. Makes some of my recent hobby adventures (chopping up Corsair cloaks for Salamander veterans) seem very lackluster![]()
Very very much thanks to you for posting that how to paint flames tutorial! They really helped my with the flames on my flaggelants!
And that Steamblaster is going to be great, well it is great allready!

Lord Dan: I couldn't possibly call it that. Just seeing the name makes me think of this!
MaxSigmund: Yeah, he'll get a few tools. I imagine he's more of a hands-off engineer. He comes up with the ideas, and just lets the Gnoblars get to work. A smack round the ear here and there to make sure they're doing it properly, but that's about it! His equipment will be more focused on measuring and calculating distances I think.
Fanny Crowbar: Thank you! High praise - we've all seen your Vampire Counts!
Jericho: Don't you worry, it takes all sorts! A friend of mine actually did the Corsair Salamander cloak thing - it looks super sweet.
Dutchwarlord: Not a problem! Is there anywhere we can see them?

Sorry for the late update (if you're on UK time - if you're on forwards time, I apologise for nothing!), but I skipped out part way through replying to comments to watch the Avengers (again)!
So for today's update, just a few close ups of the contraption.
Here we see the cannon details. Got a complex cog thing here for the Gnoblar to angle the cannon. Made from an assortment of parts, including the scrap launcher, the back of an Ogre banner top, along with bits from an Ork Battlewagon. We also see the Ogre Engineer's side arm - just a small pistol!
The back of the steam... barrel. I want to say tank, but that's awkward. The barrel only has one end, as the other one is embedded in the Steam Tank, so I had to make a new one. I took a cast of the front piece, made it in green stuff, and put it on the back. Done! Also seen in this picture: ridiculous mold lines which I've now sorted out. Been filling in gaps all over the shop here. I don't know why, but all these pieces from all over the place just don't go together neatly!
More tomorrow, or Sunday. We'll see!
Well, hmmz
1)I am bloody well surprised that the word means something else then what I meant by it, as it is more a sound then an actual word imo.
2)To me the word entails amazement and surprise and being impressed at the same time
I will not really be able to Yoink it as you say, as I am not that capablebut thanks for the ideas anyway, as I am sure some people will
be able to do so.
3)I will ignore the comment about the size, lol.
