Well, to be honest, I'm not in much of a mood to paint at the moment, but in the interests of keeping the log interesting, I'll start painting in the next couple of days.
Bingo.
That's the start I've made on him. A long time has been spent looking round the internet for pictures of Chaos Dwarfs, and I've found that unless you want to go the old skool route of big hats (I definately don't), the jury is still out on what a Chaos Dwarf should actually look like. So I'm playing it by ear for now. If anyone has any suggestions for what to add, I would very much appreciate it.

Big tusks, frilly beards, and BIG noses.. skip the hats if you want.. but imho hats are a MUST to be a proper chaos dwarf..![]()
Great idea and sculpt. I wanted to sculpt some maneaters at one time in similar fashion. I was never real good with greenstuff so I never made any but I've been playing around with it alot lately and Im getting much better so I will be making some soon. I just bought a ton of GS and my wife bought me another Ogre Battalion for my birthday.
My Idea was for three different units to represent the weapon choices
3 Cathayan Longsword Maneaters
- Cathayan ( ofcourse )
- DE executioner type
- Araby type with a sabre
3 Brace of Handgun Maneaters
- DE Corsair type with repeater handguns
- Dwarf Slayer pirate type ( Love the Long Drong's theme )
- Empire type
3 Great Weapon Maneaters
- Orc type
- Ind type ( probably paint him up to look like the lotr mamluk mahout dude ).
- Not really sure for the third one but I'll probably do a Lizardmen one.
So anyway I wanted to do nine for all the different weapon types but your doing a whole army
INSANE I tell you...INSANE.!!!
I'll be watching this thread.
Cheers
Gork Or Mork.
Sounds good man! Let me know when you get going - would love to see them. And if you want any help (not saying I'm perfect or anything) just throw it up. Interestingly, this army has been sitting in my cupboard for over a year in the boxes whilst A. I finished what I was working on, and (more so) B. practiced enough with the greenstuff to make it possible.
Just a tantalizing taste of what's in store: out of the ones you've listed, five will make an appearance of one sort or another in my army. Which ones? We-he-he-he-heeell you'll just have to wait and see!
Nkari: Thanks for the advice. I hadn't thought about tusks - they've made their way onto the model. He was obviously going to get the beard, and his nose is hidden, so none of that. He hasn't got the hat, but I think you should be happy with how he looks. I've gone for an old skool Chaos style to keep it different from any other more contemporary Chaos worshippers that may or may not find their way into the army.
Anyway! I had a real blitz this afternoon, and he is now done! There wasn't much that needed layering with the greenstuff, so he went quite a bit quicker than the regular Dwarf. I've even finished the Gnoblar to go with him! Any guesses what kind of Gnoblar he is?
Pictures will wait until tomorrow I'm afraid. It's a little dark right now!
Yeah I'll post a plog about it. I shouldn't have said soon though because I recently fractured my hand so it will be a few months. I already started a few before that though. Also Im kind of a perfectionist even though Im not that good yet. If that makes any sense
I think one of the cooler things for sculpting ogres is a custom gut plate. e.g. sculpting over the existing one for the culture. Such as empire, dwarfs etc.
Ofcourse you want more than a converted gutplate but I guess what Im saying is it can really give them that much more character since it's such large surface and shows up alot on ogres.
Yeah I agree. The first two I've done I've just picked out gutplates that pretty much fit with the theme, as both are practically covered up anyway. But I will be sculpting some from scratch definately. I don't understand people that take off the gutplate and sculpt a stomach in there. I like that GW took a step away from classical fantasy imagery.
One thing I want to keep though is some Ogre imagery. My Ogres have submersed themselves in their destination's culture, but are still Ogres at heart. That's why they're all banding together to go fight and eat things (it's not just about the money!).
Here we go! Chaos Dwarf Ogre. Complete with Hobgnoblar, who may not make much sense on his own, but he's being pushed over my the Trollslayer.
Today I'm starting painting the Dwarf Ogre, so expect pics sometime later!

Thanks all! I've been out practically all day so I only managed to get a couple of layers of paint on the Dwarf. I'll do more tomorrow.
On a related topic, would anyone be interested in seeing the armylist? I have a full 2000 points planned, so if anyone wants to see, I'll post it up.![]()
Started painting! The skin is pretty much done now, I'll probably go back and change it a bit after the rest of the model is done.

Man, looks like it's been a busy weekend! I was half way down page two! Time to sort that out.
Sunday I was a busy beekeeper, and managed to entirely paint (aside from a couple of touch-ups and any advice or criticisms from you all!) the Dwarf Ogre!
The base isn't done yet. I have an idea for the basing scheme, but it'll take a little work before it's ready. In the meantime I'll carry on making and painting.
Thoughts?
I'll post a more detailed write up of how it was done/why it was done tomorrow. For now, it's been a long, long day and it's time for sleep.

Awesome theme! I always enjoy seeing armies that have lots of unique models in them.
I really like the Chaos Dwarf Ogre. He looks exactly like I imagine one would look like. Looking forward to more!
