Not bad Malcaruss, but I think turret from Bane Blade will be better.

I get what you mean and maybe the Macharius' turret would be even better, being in the middle, sizewise. But then again, I want this tank to represent a Leman Russ and I like the Ryza Pattern Turrets, including how they look on the Malcador, so I think that's the best solution. Plus: I can order them seperately.

Have you painted up the commissar ?
I have to say that i agree with you doubleT, I tied the baneblade turret and it way to big for the malcador chassie.
I guess that a macharius turret would fit rather good, but then again, i dont have the actual turret so i cant check.
I think it would be about the size of my rebuilt russ turret.
I see your standpoint on the ryza pattern turrets and im looking forward to seeing how it will look all painted up.
How many do you plan to make ?

Its a tricky one. You basically need a double wide russ turret. Baneblade is far too big, normal russ is a bit small.

Well, at least 3. Because the other two Heavy Support slots will be filled with 3 Medusa and 3 Earthshaker.

And yes, I'll check the Macharius turret when I get them.

Here are the Lascannon teams, took me long enough:

And now I'll try to finish the commissar tonight.

Not quite satisfied with the horse's legs, I guess I'll have to work on that and make it a bit better. For now I think it's ok.

    Some WIP shots:

I could swear that I didn't see a post by you when I answered SDKFZ yesterday. O_o
Well, the Malcador has nearly the same width as a Chimera so I guess it's not really whider than a Leman Russ.

Awesome commissar! I think the horses legs look great (I'm not colourblind ), what do you think is wrong with them?

I think the commissar looks amazing! And those poor heavy weapons teams... they're swimming in mud haha. As always, a huge inspiration!

Thanks. Well, on some parts I think it looks too "bestial brown" ... I think some parts could use some more different shades. And the mud looks different on a brighter mini than it does on a darker one (green, black). I think it looks a bit bright and could use some carefull drybrushing with scorched brown.

So, next I could either start with the rest of the riders, put some more templates on the table or I could add some more engineers and a 2nd Hades, or ...
there's the tank. I thought about making the side cupolas changeable (inside, outside, flat side) but since I use the sides that are ment to have the outside cupolas, I'd have to saw a hole into the side. I guess I'll make the improvements on the next tank ...
    Can't decide ...

Ahh, now i get the paint issue, thanks
Please do the Tank ! Id love to see how yours turn out. You got me into doing one so................
I see the problem with the Sponsons. The ones that go "inside" need a rather big hole. Do you really feel like doing all that work ?
Anyhow ill give you all the support i can !

    Best of luck !

I feel like I have to reply to this awesome thread after lurking for quite some time. AWESOME! That hardly comes close though in terms of describing this log.

If you're looking for mud examples on horses, I did a quick Google search, and it would seem that for fresh mud, one color would be all you need. Mud would accumulate under the horses chest, sides, and rump. If this horse were in the mix of a bunch of other charging horses, there'd be mud splattered all across the front of his head, neck, and the sides of the rider, from the mud flung up by the horses in the front of the charge. Granted, Comissars are a tricky bunch, because they would seem like a charge-leader, but they should be sitting in back making sure nobody retreats.

I think you've found a healthy mix of mud though, as though they've been moving at a swift trot, but not a full blown charge. Perhaps a more gray-brown would look better on the white?

I really like the way you've painted the commissars horse thing a light grey instead of the usual dark brown. I would never have thought to paint it like that and I really like the way it contrasts with the Commissar mount.

    Well, here's what inspired me:

Actually, ... the Bible. More specifically: The Book of Revelation.

And no, I'm not religious. I just like the Apocalypse.

There are horses in all sorts of colours really, so a grey/ white horse imo is nothing special, it does however stand to contrast with the commissar if the rest of the horses are dark coloured.

I Know I Know, but Johnny Cash uses exactly this phrase of the Revelation in this song ! I think you will like it, if you can find it.
