    Re: 9th Grand Company

i was wondering what an over-spiked thunderhawk would look like and i came up with this. i honestly think that like that it would cause more damage to the enemy by turning its engines off mid-flight. so yeh, few or no spikes IMO

though i think it would be pretty entertaining to see a thunderhawk with that many spikes plummet down onto the loyalist scum's commander. hehehehe

Thanks, I'm using 5mm foam baoard and cardboard.

I would like to add small riverts so if anyone has any ideas for what to use please tell me.

Anyway, I've been painting the main hull....

I'm quite pleased how it has come out.

Instead of spikes you could do the raised molding and organic-looking cables and insignia and such that are on the Forgeworld chaos models. It'd be a good way to make it look sleek, while still seeming chaotic and in-theme for the rest of the army.

    Innards are looking good dude!

As for the spikes, maybe some on the upward facing slanted section on the nose and maybe some on the wings would indeed be a good idea. I also personally think that adding some spikes to the gun mounts would be a nice idea. But I think you should cross that bridge when you get to it, better to get the bread and butter done before you fill the sandwich. :P

With regard to the rivets, if you are after small ones then you could use the balls out of a water purification jug thing. Apologies for the vagueness, IA model masterclass shows them in the tool list at the front, I don't have mine handy right now but i'm sure someone can pluck theirs from the warp and be a bit more accurate. As far as bigger rivets go what about using the rounded bit on the underside of marine helmets? Nothing else springs to mind at the moment but if I think of anything i'll be sure to post.

I like, and that is some massive firepower that you are building there. That group shot made me want to build all that! And some monoliths...

    Thanks for the replies.

Yeah I'm impressed with the army. Think I will do a shot of everything together as I haven't yet.

Thanks for the tip on riverts, will look into that. I also agree with completing it before adding extras. You would build a GW tank first then add spikes last.

Been thinking of adding a 'grinning skull to the nose and a giant eight pointed star down the body.

    Hi,

After all this talk of spikes, I've been playing withsome spikes on the nose and wondered what the feedback would be?
I think it looks quite evil and 'hungry' looking, comments....

I think they should be curved slightly inwards, along with the area of metal around it. Make the ramp look like a jaw, and have some kind of tongue if it will open.

The sad thing is, I have been doing that! Bombing runs around the house!!!

I like the idea of turning it into a jaw, but I think that would better suit some other renegades, i.e, emperors children, death guard.

But when you have something so awesome, theres no way you can resist doing that!

Very nice spikes, it does indeed resemble a rather big mouth! I think its just about the right mix or chaos-ness and I agree that turning it into a full blown jaw is not best suited to the iron warriors.

The rest of it is also coming along very nicely, you're making good time!

    Re: 9th Grand Company

Thanks. I must admit I'm really enjoying this one.

Now that the cockpit is finished I think my next move will be to work on the wings, then I really can do so awesome 'bombing runs' - yay!!

Not sure about the landing gear, I want to mount it on a base 10-12" tall, to fit in with the shooting rule, so might leave it up
