Thread: 9th Grand Company

    Re: 9th Grand Company

    Hi,

I've been working on the defiler and was'nt going to put a pic up until it was finished.

However, I do like a good WIP picture/update, so I'd thought I'd just put one on anyway, .......

It's going well I think, just not sure where to mount the Hazzard strips?

    Cheers!

    Re: 9th Grand Company

    Hello again!!

I have nearly finished this bloody defiler!!!!!!

I was gonig to wait till it was finished before posting but I need some advice please:-

Really don't know where to put the Hazzard strips?

I was thinking maybe on the upper leg plates, on the heavy flamer canisters and possibly on the reaper cannon armour plate? - Have a look and see what you think.....

I hope the next time I put pic's up this thing WILL BE FINISHED!!!

will also clean the finger prints of the camera lense - My Son, the budding photographer, has been at it again - So should have some nicer pic's!

    Regards!!

It's looking good. It depends on how symetrical you want to be. If you don't mind it not being symetrical I think (from the models PoV) the upper left leg plate, the lower right leg plate and the plate above the reapercannon (tail) and the flamer tanks.

Outstanding IWs! Are you planning to expand the guard elemens into a full army, or just leave them as artillery support?

    Re: 9th Grand Company

    Many thanks!

I dont mind it being symetrical as it's going to be a 'one-off' model!

As for the Renegades, I won't be turning them into a stand alone army.
I do want some infanty though - was thinking of using some 'House Delaque' models to make an armoured fist unit or two. Pricey I know , but I think they will make a great alternative to the usual FW models.

I may also get some bombards, but these guys are really Artillary support for the Iron Warriors.

I have however, decided to paint the Hell Blades/Talon in the same scheme as the renegade guardsmen.
I think they will look nice ( I did try painting them in the IW colour scheme but it really did'nt work out!)

It's alright, they're flown by renegade Navy anyway. Looking forward to pics of them repainted.

Fantastic conversion! Wish I could pull that off. Hazard stripes on the top autocannons would look super.

    Iron Warriors Chaos Defiler!

Today I would like to present my finished Chaos Defiler........

It's been lying around for 18 months, but now it's finaly complete.
I'm really pleased because I thought I would never be bothered to do it, but in the end I think it's one of my best and should make a real nice centre-piece in a small army (although it would'nt last long in a battle because it's soo big!!)

Hope you like it, and thanks for the ideas for the Hazzards!!

    Regards!

One word, awsome. The balance of the hazards stripes is perfect, they add to the model rather than distract from it.

    Re: 9th Grand Company

Hi there, and thanks for the comments guys!

I agree it is quiet big for a defiler. I think I could get away with saying it's a super heavy walker with two structial points - 300 points.

    Anyway,

I have finished the Hell Blade,

I'm Pleased it's finished, but as far as the painting goes, I don't rate it! -- Just happy it's done and I can move on!

I like it, I think it works being a slightly rougher style as it's part of the milita and not the IW. Please note I said rougher, I still think it is very well painted. Whats next?

    Re: 9th Grand Company

You might be able to find a 2 structure point walker in a datasheet somewhere and you could do counts-as. You could almost go with Brass Scorpion, though those have a lot larger footprint (but aren't as tall).

    Thanks Chris!

I'm not sure whats next. I have started repainting the Minotaur so should probably carry on and finish that really.

Just not really in the mood for Renegades at the moment.

I really need to Re-paint my Landraiders because I never really finished painting them in the 'old style' that I first started out with. so after two year of having them half finished I owe it to them to be finished. (plus it's a lot of money to have spent on something and not complete it!)

    Re: 9th Grand Company

Yeah I was thinking of the Brass scorpion, but with weaker armour, or the slannesh subjugater - probably the slannesh one as they are quiet simaler in size and armament!

Maybe this will give you some inspiration to keep you going with the IW side of your force. The artwork from the seige of castellax book.

I really like the colors on the hell blade! It seems oddly practical and fitting!
