This is coming together nicely. The symbols are great, how long do you think until the first coats of paint will be applied?

Really cool blog, lots of interesting conversions and ideas.
I can just see the TH on a party table covered in cheese and pineapple!![]()
Cheers!
Thanks for the positive feedback.
Still got a lot to do and a lot of green stuff to apply. I'm aiming to finish building by the end of the weekend.
Next lot of pictures will be off the finished model.
See you then.

Hi.
Still haven't finished it yet. Nearly there!
I have tried to make some metal trim in an attempt to make it more chaosy. Should like better when it's painted.
This is all I will be adding before painting. The missiles, landing gear and heavy bolters will be painted separately.
Just not sure if I should add a few more spikes along the top of the hull and on top of the gun mount?

I wouldn't overdo the spikes, and that gun mount is looking plenty interesting as it is, spikes I think would overclutter it. Besides, spikes are there as trophy racks or impromportu weapons, neither of which an aircraft has much use for. The current ones look awesome, and could be explained as making it more aerodynamic, but too many will look daft. Having said that, currently loving it, the trim looks really nice. Not to chaosy, like a word bearers would be, but obviously warped and evil (are you going to paint the mouth spikes as bone? that would look LEGENDARY![]()

Those spikes are just screaming out to have an impaled loyalist somewhere on there :P
The blog of my eternally wandering mind - I do commissions. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
The only spikes likely to have and keep skulls or trophies might be the front ones (as the assault ramp slams down) but otherwise they don't need trophies. The speed it's traveling would rip things off from drag.
Awesome Hawk! One thing I noticed is how symmetrical the spikes are on right and left sides, I think that's a good thing actually.

Thanks all for the feedback which has been really helpful. I guess I'm getting a bit carried away with the whole spike thing. I was going to add some of those chains but in the end i thought they would look silly and just stuck on for affect. also they would probably break off at high speeds and end up in the turbines - not good!
If my GS skills were up to it I would have sculpted some daemonic maws over the main gun and possibly over the assault ramp to make it really chaosy, but alas they are not.
I think I will stop there and probably start undercoating it tomorrow.
I'm hoping the weathered metal scheme I use and some nice big hazard strips (maybe across the tail fin?) should help finish it off.
And yes I was thinking of painting the spikes on the assault ramp like bones.
Thanks again and hope to post soon.

Ok thanks guys, advice taken.
I have just got a quick pic of the weathering process
Once all this dries I will start dry brushing on the metal layers, boltgun, chain mail and a touch of mythril!

I have finished the gold trim and black bits. Looks nice to have some variation from the metallic.
You may notice that I have left off all of the wing flaps, except from the dorsal flap( which I can't remove), this is because I'm thinking of adding the hazard strips to these. Either that or I will paint them black and add some massive hazard strips across the hull or wings, or maybe on the dorsal wing?
Not sure what's best?

I say go for the flaps
"You ask what I hate? I hate a creature that speaks of pride and honour, that fosters the love of his sons, that smiles and scrapes at every obedient act, and then turns like a diseased dog and stabs his own child in the spine!''
I would say the more subtle hazard stripes on the flaps would look a bit better.
Awesome stuff. Id go for the flaps as well, maybe even looking at the ramp too

How does it stay in the air? Oh, it's powered by pure handwavium
Quick, let me take my (Mat) Ward save!
Thanks for the help. Glad to hear that the hazards on the flaps idea is going down well. Should be starting them in a few days. They need a bit more prep before painting. They don't all fit!
Cheers
