    Shadowsword about 70% complete now.

Couldn't resist putting everything so far together:-

Might notice the preds and the landy are much darker then the rest. I do like how the new style is going a lot better then the old.

Great to see the army really comming together!!

    Very impressive armoured division.

You making the 'Raiders up to 3 as well? The Shadowsword suits the IW's very well, much better than Baneblade's imho.

No just got two landys. Dont have a great deal of grunts to transport so didn't go for the third. Im half temted to build a thunderhawk so I can drop them 'hard and fast' into battle.

Also the raiders will each pair up with the 2 tank squads to (hopefully) take some fire and protect the vindicators and preds.

I thought the shadowsword was more hard core wargear, just how the IW like it!!

Impressive force... love the consistency. You'd make a great ally on the table.

    Can't argue with the logic.

    What's coming up next?

    Re: 9th Grand Company

    Well thats a good question!

I've nearly finished the landys so pics to follow soon.

The 'eavy' armour will be finished then - until I start scratch building anyway.

I've got some grunts to paint, a Termy lord and a squad of 5 old termys - 2nd eddition models.

I also have a dread to finish but might give him to my tainted warband as they could do with a boost!

So almost there but still a ways to go. Will update soon with some dodgy, poor quality pics!!!

Good work, all the paintjob is very good done, i'm always have liked the yellow-black stripes for the iron warriors, it's a nice detail for the vehicles!

    Keep it up!

    Re: 9th Grand Company

I really love what you've done with the baneblade. Its intimidating and not overly decked out with chaos but clearly chaos. I think the front spike grill is great, and I am not huge on tanks.

    Re: 9th Grand Company

    Thanks for your comments guys.

I'm glad someone mentioned the stormswords bullbars as im quite pleased with the aggressive look and i do think the model does need something more, I've seen lots of chains on the front that also look quite cool.

Usally I go a bit mad with chaos bits, its hard not to really, but since this is iron warriors I felt that less is more, keep your spikes for khorne!!

    Thanks, its some armour!

Just a quick question - you know that big shinny reaver I've got, Well I'm going to sell him and use the money to help fund a FW Chaos warhound. My question is this -

What weapons should I get for it to suit IW?

I was thinking Double barrelled turbo laser and inferno canno or 2x DBTL or 2x plasma blastguns.

My main opponent is an imperial guard player.

    Re: 9th Grand Company

Ok I have another question to put out there -

Doe's anyone know what would make a good thunder hawk engine? I'm talking about the front intake part, not the turbines but the curved cylindrcial casing?

As to why I'm asking this well, I will shed some light on this soon...

    Re: 9th Grand Company

you could try the lids of the GW paintpots, theyre about the right shape and only need a bit of clipping to get the join off, then you could use plasticard or something for the actual turbine fan. might be the wrong size though i can tell from the photos of thunderhawks. hope it helps

    Re: 9th Grand Company

Thanks mate, thats a very good idea.

The reason I asked was this......

    [IMG][/IMG]

As you can see I have begun construction of my very own thunderhawk with a mars pattern turbo laser!!

I have tried to stick to the FW dimensions of 19" long and 17" wide. Its massive!!!!

    [IMG][/IMG]

Currently working on the inerior. Its gonna have full hull detail and cockpit crew...
    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

Hull has a mix of iron struts, weapon racks, control pannel for activating front door(which also moves), rear door for acess to the rear of the ship and a which - for all those mid-air drop/ recovery missions!!

    [IMG][/IMG]

Heres my cockpit crew in the early stages, lots of cutting to make hem fit in those chairs!!
Gonna paint the interior before continuing.

The best thing about buying all those tanks was the amount of pannels and other spares that can be used on this.

    Re: 9th Grand Company

Nice to see a scratchbuild bird! Looking awesome so far, will you be giving it an extra large ammount of spikes??

    Re: 9th Grand Company

You know what I dont know??

I supose spikes either side the front ramp would look quite mean, mabye some on the wings???

I dont like going too mad on the spikes because I think its to 'Khrone'y' butit is something I haven't tought of yet so thanks!!
