Twilight Kin (Evil Elves), Goblins, and Humans.
Ah , ok. So humans will be compatible in any range ? That should sell well , with several companies making large historical deals for not much money.
From the reports and lists of the Invitational Tournament of this weekend, it's possible to deduce some info regarding the second edition of KoW!
In the played races list, there are two different human list: Kingdom of Men and Human Mercenaries. Where are the goblins?
All the info, also regarding the point costs differences in this blog post (sorry, it's in italian but unit names are in english).

I guess there is no non-disclosure agreement about the 2.0 rules? Someone please tell us about the new special characters and the werewolves!![]()
No formal NDA but we were asked to keep the new rules and lists to ourselves until they are released.
Not long to go now. :-)

Was there a release date mentioned for the Twilight Kin? A few army sets were available on Open Day IIRC, so I thought they might hit the shelves soonish... Looks like a longer wait than I anticipated.
After reviving the Chaos Dwarfs, Mantic is now preparing to spread some love for the Dogs of War players out there? A clever & welcome choice/approach if you ask me.![]()
If you play any of Mantic's games, check out my Battlescribe project for KoW and Warpath.
Ahhh...my Birdmen of Catrazza may finally see the light of day again! Oh...wait...not all the weird stuff I'm sure.I've got plenty of pikemen, and a few other Dogs of War that will happily see the tabletop now.
And it gives me the excuse to work on a Perry WotR human army as well.
Photos from the invitational are up:-

^ Awesome, gaarew made an all-werewolf army *and* grew a beard. Pure win.
Heh, I just remembered that I also have 5 of those Birdmen knocking about somewhere.
You could probably use allied eagles from the expanded elf list without any trouble.
I mean, new elf list will have eagles, right?

Just read Jake Thornton's blog, that's a bit worrying, so many balance issues only discovered after the book was printed.
I also disagree with changing any rules mid-tournament. I remember playing in ACTA Babylon 5 tournametns where there were balance issues regarding Minbari or ISA fleets. You just soldiered on and hoped it'd be fixed for the next one.
Don't panic folks! Seriously the rules themselves are pretty solid, all that's needed is a few tweaks to the army lists. Should be less than a page of errata.
On the plus side there's likely to be a similar Warpath event at a much earlier stage of proceedings.

I wonder how much playtesting was done then before the lists were printed?
It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye... and then it's just fun!

I remember reading in the newsletter that the Twilight Kin teaser army list was postponed a week because Alessio was taking his time actually writing it. So unfortunetly not much playtesting by the looks of it. I was worried then that the new army lists may end up being a rush job, unfortunetly the reports from the tournament reinforce that notion.
Oh well. I'm sure we'll get an army list update/errata if things if things turn out really dire - it's not like we're talking GW here, having to wait 3-4 years for an army book revision...
Worst case scenario, we come up with a couple of fan made tweaks on the forums
I am however sad to hear that is Alessio considering dropping the ally rules. While the system is open to abuse, it also allows varied, diverse and interesting armies and is in itself an instant narrative device. Call me old fashioned, but gaming for me has always been about the narrative, cool stories and even cooler armies, as opposed to beating the snot out of someone in a fancy tournament![]()

Dogs of War/human armies just may get my attention. I'm getting to be a little old for starting new minies/armies.![]()
I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?
Maybe Mantic can (if not allready doing) have a seperate ruleset for tournament play. You can have allies and all the fun stuff in regular games with your mates and a trimmed down, faster playing, less open to abuse ruleset for people to powergame, WAAC and tourney with.
Familiarity, the first myth of reality: What you know the best you observe the least.
Devotion, the second myth of reality: The faithfull are most hurt by the objects of their faith.
Conviction, the third myth of reality: Only those who seek the truth can be decieved.
Fellowship, the fourth myth of reality: As the tides of war shift, so do loyalties.
Trust, the fifth myth of reality: Every truth holds the seed of betrayal.
That's a pretty simple rule option - you can't take allies in tournaments. A single line in the ally section fixes that because the abuse is only really noticeable or important in a tournament, friendly games don't need to worry so much. And if you do, then you just play friendlies with the 'tournament' rules - ie you don't take allies.
