I think plastic werewolves do make sense. While they aren't needed for GW games werewolves are a common monster and present in many settings however there are very few decent minis available (the only good models I can find are produed by reaper and they have very limited poses and vary greatly in appearance across the range). The number of people interested may be lower but if your going for a large number of werewolves mantic is going to be the only choice.
I think a large number of werewolf armies could be on the horizon!
Yup, while the concept of a faithful, noble, religious do-gooder kingdom came up a lot in fantasy - especially in the 80s and 90s - it hasn't really hit the mainstream miniature wargaming market. The Reaper Crusaders and (arguably) Ex Illis might be examples, but I wouldn't call these games titans of popularity in the miniature market.
I think that might have something to do with the overall trend in modern fantasy (and sci-fi, for that matter). The more bright, fairytale fantasy with good and noble knights seems to have taken a back seat, and the working trope for writers/artists nowadays seems to be a 'dark', 'edgy', 'gritty' (or whatever adjective you prefer) aesthetic (sp?). Even if you get an image of some kind of religious & virtous kingdom in modern fantasy, you are bound to end up with some religious zealotry & xenophobia overtones sooner or later. I for one would welcome a change from all those depressing settings - too much of anything is bad, and I'm actually quite fond of the more bright & happy fantasy of yesteryear.
Well Otherworld also has a nice Werewolf and to be honest the new Skin Wolves from FW will be hard to top by Mantic. Even their price is mor than fair.
I can easily see Mantic werewolves costing less than half of the FW ones.
If you play any of Mantic's games, check out my Battlescribe project for KoW and Warpath.
I just wanted to add that I hope Mantic will create bipedal werewolves, such as the kind seen in The Howling, Underworld, Werewolf: The Series, She Wolf of London, Silver Bullet, Bad Moon, Dog Soldiers and even Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Season 2 only).
Games Workshop has already got the quadrupedal Twilight-style werewolves covered with their wargs, so no need to worry there.
(I suppose the Fenrisian wolves could take the place of An American Werewolf in London, and even Mercy Thompson/Kitty Norville/Harry Dresden-style werewolves. )
Oh, and make them nude digitigrades--while we all loved Monster Squad, no one wants to model Wolfman.
Just to reiterate: Four legs bad, two legs good, two dog-legs better.
"Wolfman's got nards?!?"
Very much agree with the rest of the post and the concept of plastic werewolves in general.
Member of J.A.D.E.DTrying to convince Warseer that GW are anything less than perfect is like trying to teach a horde of zombies that lettuce is a perfectly acceptable alternative to brains.

Fill your boots! They still have all the KoW mega-armies at the reduced RRP of £90 (probably had stock left over from xmas), so with the discount you can get them for £63 instead of £100.![]()

Yeah the newsletter link thing was annoying but managed to find it on the site and picked one up.
Why, oh why did this have to come so soon after the Total Wargamer offer though? I've bought way too many mini's this month...
I missed the boat on the Christmas Bag the last time, and was beating myself about it. Now that I have the chance to rectify that mistake, I find myself all out of cash to spend at the momentI might let this slip past me yet again...
Then again, since I have absolutely no interest in Warpath, it is a slightly worse deal for me... I guess... I'll just keep telling myself that...
