Yeah, I think I have managed to divert funds from other projects/ hobbies to up my pledge again to $225, although I now have the tough choice of the $175 armies plus $50 of bogof goodies or the 1000 goblin army. Hmm, tough choices.

Want some Mantic Elves/Dwarfs? *Updated (23/04/12)*

Now for the ladies...
Is there an undead "elite" army at the $225 level - or are you stuck at $175 for undead?
Adding mummies would break the $225 barrier for you wouldn't it? An extra 3 werewolves and an extra 20 mummies (along with other freebies) for $25 would give you a very elite army, with solid amounts of almost elite model available (could use extra wraiths and an extra balefire catapult, but pretty much everything else is covered).
Rather nice on the mummies that the 2-for-1 is 2 boxes of 10 instead of 2 boxes of 5. Damn mantic, must you continually be awesome at this project?![]()
Can you guys help me understand something.
So for the 2 for 1 stuff, say that I have $25 for 3 werewolves. Does that mean I get another 3 werewolves for free?
And if that is true, could I instead ask for 3 werewolves with my $25 and then take say 3 trolls for the freebie?
And if I pledged $175, could I take the $110 deal to get the 6 werewolves, 9 ogres, etc, then use $50 to take 3 werewolves + 3 trollls(as the freebie) and then the next $25 for the gargoyles + mummies(as the freebies), leaving me with $15 to spare?
And if I had spare money after taking what I wanted, what could I do with it? Is that like a credit that I could use toward something else?
1. Yes. That is precisely what it means.
2. Well, you could ask - but I would think the answer would be no. (Mantic wants you to kick in $25 for the trolls too after all.) They have been very accomidating though - so they just might? Ask on their Kickstarter page. They seem good at answering right away.
3.. Your math is off a bit here (and it depends on what the answer to #2 is) The $110 - for the Werewolves, etc - Then $50 would get you an additional 6 Werewolves/6 Trolls - (one of each set, and one freebie of each set for $25 a piece) and then a further $25 here to get the 10 Mummies (+10 Mummies free, or Gargoyles if Mantic would let you mix and match - but I'm still assuming that's a no).
That would be pledging $185 yes. Which puts you $10 past the minimum needed for the second tier of Freebies (i.e getting 3 free trolls, instead of one, and 5 mummies/gargoyles instead of 1, plus the undead STB). But that $10 isn't really "spare." You've paid for the things you wanted, and just went a little past what you needed to get more freebies (but short of the $225 that adds the MOST amount of freebies).
It does really start to get confusing. I'm mulling my own pledge amount(s) and trying to cherry pick to get the stuff I want and avoid the stuff I don't, and I've had to go through a few times to double-check. Scarlet Squig's post on Dakka is invaluable for that (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum...st/451718.page). Mantic needs to copy it and put it on the official page. But yes - the deals have gotten ridiculously good, and I'm most likely being sucked into buying an Undead army myself (with some goodies like Trolls/Chariots for my Night Goblins). I really hate having piles of stuff built up - but I'm also a sucker for a great deal :/
And the fact they've gotten McVey to sculpt the new stuff alleviates a lot of my fears about the whole hit-or-miss thing.
Mike McVey is the Mantic art director, not one of their sculptors.
Indeed, in fact Mike McVey does not sculpt for Studio McVey either, none of the Sedition Wars sculpts are his.
If you play any of Mantic's games, check out my Battlescribe project for KoW and Warpath.
Doh - way to tamper my enthusiasm guys!
Now I'm right back to worrying about whether any of the new things will be up to par or not... It's a conundrum.
On an unrelated note - I went to the Mantic site and looked at army lists (I've decided this hypothetical undead army will be a KoW army instead of a shoe-horned counts-as VC army) and I noticed there were no Gargoyles in the unit list. I'm assuming they will be part of the undead army and are just a new unit in the new book?
Not sure if this is the right place to mention this, or if it should have a thread of its own, but got the email last night for Mantic's KoW tourny next year.
8th/9th February, Ł12.49 a ticket including lunch both days (which seems reasonable to me) and a Ł1000 grand prize!?!?
I have no chance at winning, but I'm tempted to go along for the fun of it, assuming such a large prize won't bring along loads of idiots anyway...
75% of each army needs to be made up of Mantic models, except Kingdoms of Men, which can be made up from Perry Miniatures, Warlord Games, Conquest Miniatures, Fireforge Games and Victrix. I'm amused that GW aren't included in this list, but I can see it might annoy some people.
I'd also have preferred that Wargames Factory were in there, as i quite fancied building a Samurai army out of their plastics, but I'll probably do Undead anyway.

Thanks for your reply. It was really helpful. It seems like $185 is the best amount for me to get the things I really want.
I do have one more question. I had already put in a pledge of $110 before all the new great deals for having over $175 came into affect, like the extra gargoyles, mummies, trolls, for example. And I had pledged that before I noticed that you could get extra deals after the kickstarter was over to get those extra units for $25, buy one get one free and that would be done via survey, which was why it was not on the rewards page when you make your pledge.
So if I want to change that $110 to $185, can I just go to manage my pledge and change the amount to $185 and not get charged $110 + 185? Or do I need to cancel my pledge and start from scratch?
I want to make sure I don't get charged the $110 and then get charged a further $185 if I change my pledge amount. And it is that Mantic will ask me what I want to spend my extra $75 from my pledge on via survey correct? Cause there is no option for the buy 1, get one free items on the rewards page when you make your pledge.
I assume it's less to do with sinister motives and more because as they're mostly picking up ex-WH players they don't want to give a particular army list the advantage of not having to invest to play.
On mine the Reward amount appears to be a subset of the total Pledge.

I think this is purely so that they can take photos of the event without GW coming down on them.
