The return of the 13th Company

Now some games companies would have you believe the 13th Company never came back, but we know they returned and they stayed.

I've been working on redoing my 13th Company over the past few months and with the reorganisation here I figure my old plog is probably too confused to keep going.

This is the stuff that is currently done. Largely I was painting to a 1500 point list which is now expanded to 2000 points with extras to keep me interested along the way.

This lot is the next batch being worked on with extra Grey Hunters being done as swap ins so that when I'm done I can either field bare Grey Hunter squads or have MOTW, Wolf Standards and full meltas etc in them.

And then this lot is the spares and to work on piles

Obviously this isn't a true 13th Company anymore because I've gone and added vehicles, but the Rhinos etc will be old school kits where I can. The Predator is going to have an old school turret swap in, and I'm looking to pick up a few more old Rhinos to run with.

Re: The return of the 13th Company

I'll put up various shots of stuff done, but I'll go with some of the WIP projects at the moment.

Instead of trying to make it easy on myself one of the projects I'm doing is to work on my own version of this guy.

So bits have been assembled and started on.

At the same time I've also been building my own Bjorn standin using the new Venerable Dread kit. I'm intending to get a FW Dread kit to act as a standard Dreadnaught, but this is Bjorn who will be getting a new name.

Re: The return of the 13th Company

The brass on the banner is to act as the start of the freehand. I intended to use transfers when I started redoing these, but after the first batch that's been junked and now I freehand all of the 13th Company markings.

To finish off this starting bunch of pictures a couple of other WIPs.

Skyclaws - probably will never use them, but I thought they'd be fun to make.

    And my Ragnar stand in

    Comments very welcome.

The byorn stand in looks cool on his own, and the wips of indavidual marines are also looking very nice. However, i would consider using the forge world one beacuse of how epic he is, one of the nicer fw dreadnoughts by far.

    Keep it up!

Re: The return of the 13th Company

Thesheriff - thanks. Definitely will be getting a FW dread and magnetising him to let me do my usual weapon swap outs. I'm using him as a bribe for myself to keep myself painting.

Whilst I'm busy with work and dealing with a sick wife I'm not getting a lot done painting wise, but I figured I'd update with stuff already done.

One of the key things I finished last month was my Canis standin. Now he's not in my lists, but I disliked the giant wolves idea so much I wanted to do a 13th Company spin on him. Plus I will have a stack of wolves done to make this proper 13th Company so I came up with this guy.

    Which turned into

This when done. I'd really like to do more using the juggernauts, but the lack of poses between the different models is pretty disappointing - they just have different bling basically. As he's not in the list I don't have to figure how to do a full unit or the Wolf lord with Thunder Hammer I want to do quite yet.

Re: The return of the 13th Company

I've started work on Bjorn and pictures of him will be up shortly. Also trying to finish a unit of Wolf scouts on the table.

    Their WIP shot.

Other stuff that's being worked on at the moment is a second Rune Priest.

Converted from the basic to try and look pretty different, though removing his head would have caused too much hassle.

He's not finished yet, but currently he looks like

    Comments would be gratefully received.

    Those 13th company are awesome!

I had a 13th company army when the EoT campaign was going on, they will always have a place in my heart!

    Thanks for uploading them!

Re: The return of the 13th Company

Been busy with the election so not much progress on painting.

    Bjorn is up to here.

I'm also working on bits and pieces.

Another Long Fang for the first squad.

Two more Grey Hunters. Very WIP. The one on the left will be getting a wolf standard.

Whilst I've not managed painting I have been building.

A Iron Priest cobbled together from various sources.

The painting should start again in a week or so once the election is done and I get some time off.

I really like the look of the tis army, ven dread looks great (only odd thing is the rangnar symbol), the jugger rider conversion is very inventive, like the runepriest alot, iron priest is great

Re: The return of the 13th Company

Logan - well the brass has limited things on it. I'm working on painting a moon in there to head off the looking like Ragnar, but honestly it's just a wolf's head.

Painting is still getting delayed by real life, but I managed to get a shot of the army altogether.

The Grey Hunter contingent. Looking to get a few more old Rhinos to use.

The Blood Claws and their wolf priest

Re: The return of the 13th Company

The Fast attack elements. There are another 8 wolves to add to that and now looking around for more ways to do a Thunderwolf unit.

The Wolf Guard who will be getting at least a Land Raider Crusader/Redeemer.

    Heavy Support.

And the HQs so far. The Iron Priest has been started being painted since this photo and probably won't take that long.

I've also just got some new Death Company which I've converted to make a unit of Vanguard for my Blood Ravens. I'm undecided about whether to put them in this plog.

Re: The return of the 13th Company

New work on the 13th Company then and started my Iron Priest

Trying a slightly different way of doing the grey to see if I might switch it for the rest.

Older stuff that's already finished - the first Grey Hunter Rhino

Hoping to get some of the stuff already started done by mid next week so I can work on the Blood Ravens and also some Wolf Guard terminators. Comments very welcome.

Been starting to clear stuff off my painting table

    Ragnar stand in is complete.

First of the Swiftclaw bikers is done. Fairly happy with how he's come out. I may go back and chip his pack marking a bit.

All the weapons done for the first Long Fang squad.

And the second Wolf Guard is done.

Still working on the Iron Priest and planning to have him done by next week. Probably starting on more Grey Hunters as well to get two troops done.

And the first full squad of Wolf Scouts

Re: The return of the 13th Company

I'm also working to finish my Bjorn stand in this week

And a closeup on the banner

Keeping an eye on the prices of the new Bloodcrushers, because if they are in plastic that makes making a unit of Thunderwolves for this army a lot easier.

Re: The return of the 13th Company

As part of priming I'm working on redoing all my wolves, plus the extras.

It's about 18 wolves all in. I'll need them when I do my Thunderwolf army.

And finally the Wolf standard is done for the first squad
