Forces of Armageddon - Blood Angels and occasional Marines Malevolent

    Hello Community,

In the next year I will paint a small Blood Angels Force and occasionally add more Elements to my Marines Malevolent Apocalypse sized Army (hence the thread title 'Forces of Armageddon').. I will paint the models individually and finish one miniature at a time to make sure that I achieve a constant quality.
All the Marines and Vehicles will be assembled at the same time once I receive my order next week and will be basecoated using an airbrush to guarantee the same shade of red throughout the whole army...
Yellow and Blue Helmets and Bare Headed Faces will be painted seperately and added later.

Every single Marine will receive his own heraldry (similar to the Space Hulk Heraldry) and a name to add more character to the models similar like Apologist did on his Praetors of Calth Thread. Heraldry will be placed on the right sculpted shoulderpad that I will take from the BA range..
Each Marine's left shoulderpad will be a blank one and will bear the Chapter symbol using GW decals to create a uniform look.

Weathering, conversion- and painting style will be inspired by B&C's ancient god and Warseer's ilikebmxbikes.

    To be done:

2x Plastic Captains (one similar to the one in the new Codex, one with a Jump Pack)
1x 6 Man Razorback Assault Squad
    1x 6 Man Assault Squad
    1x 10 Man Tactical Squad
    3x Sanguinary Priests
    1x Land Raider
1x Set of Space Hulk Terminators
    1x 7 Man Devastator Squad
    1x Predator
    2x Drop Pod

    ------

    maybe 1-2 more Dreads
maybe 1-2 Baal Predators with lots of FW goodies once I earn more money
    maybe an all plastic Tycho
    maybe an all plastic Dante
maybe some Honor Guard Elements once the Force is finished

    anyways
here is the WIP Dread that is 90% finished... Banner is still to be done

    Dread

    Devastator Helmets

Devastator Sergeant with his Marines Malevolent sternguard buddy

really nice work, I love the Marine Malevolent Stern Guard, nice to see differant charpters.

Background wise are the Marine Malevolent the chapter that shelled the refugee camp because they thought the Orks we're hiding in/near it?

Well the Blood Angels and Marines Malevolent were fighting on Armageddon together but as far as I know Legio Astorum was not present... They lurk around the Eye of Terror.. maybe I will get myself some Legio Metalica Engines sometime =)
I did finish 2 titans in fact! the warlord will take a while though =)

always love seeing your stuff tagsta. the dread is going to look great once the banner is finished. are you painting a furioso banner though? despite the original art, he's armed as just a regular dread, no?

Re: Forces of Armageddon - Blood Angels and occasional Marines Malevolent

The pict capture shows the Astartes Strikeforce 'Damocles' engaged on Armageddon in 999.M41.
The present Battle Company was split up into several combat groups. The capture shows a third of the Company's battle brothers
commanded by Veteran Battle Brother Hector Thraxis, a Sternguard Sergeant that was shifted from the honorable First Company.
Further the combat group was supported by two Land Speeder Scout Vehicles, operated by four of the Company's Assault Marines
and two Whirlwind Batteries. The Whirlwind Batteries inflicted heavy casualties among the Ork Hordes engaged on Hive Acheron.

Well an here is an update finally

On Saturday I played a 1250pt game against orks.. I only lost 8 Marines in total, conquered 3 mission objectives and annihilated the entire ork army except for 3 killa kanz, 2 Lootaz, and about 17 Shoota Boyz.. One of the most glorious games in my career =)
I took a few pictures that I would like to share with you

    This was my Army List:

Hector Thraxis (counts as Pedro Kantor)
10 man Tactical Squad + Rhino
10 man Tactical Squad + Rhino
    10 man Tactical Squad
    6 man Devastator Squad
    2x Land Speeder
    2x Whirlwind Battery

Close up on Thraxis (Keep in mind that he is still WIP... The black parts need highlighting and the metal parts need to be washed and so on...

    Head Detail

    Hope you enjoy

I really like the scheme, and the first 'action' pic is more than a little inspiring.

Re: Forces of Armageddon - Blood Angels and occasional Marines Malevolent

    update time!

1st Company Terminator Squad.. Note the crouching brother to the very right. He is a junior member of the 1st company being only recently promoted to training in tactical dreadnought armour.. Hence he didn't earn his private heraldry yet..

the squad consists of 50% black reach terminators and 50% leftover bits... i think it's a really efficient way of saving money...

I applied weathering powders to the land raider... some of the black and metal parts are still WIP but the tank itself is about 95% finished..
love the rust effect on the engine part...
still have to get myself some pigment fixer to properly fix the pigments

These models are awesome, especially the land raider. I love the way you re-configured the weapons, that predator turret looks really wicked on there

The terminators and the land raider are awesome Tagsta! I'm intrigued by the multi-melta in the hull, how did you do it??

The detail on the Sternguard sergeant is simply staggering, it's so well painted. That's not to say the rest of the army isn't, as that army shot is quite beautiful to behold. I'll be subscribing to this, eagerly anticipating your continuation tagsta!

I used the thing that usually belongs to the Raider's heavy bolter and added a modified Land Speeder Multi Melta and Random bitz to bulk it up..

thanks a lot! The sternguard sergeant is one of my favorite models up to date aswell..the face adds so much character! That's why he is used as the leader of the army from time to time even though he was just supposed to be a sternguard sergeant..
note that the paintjob looks better in real life... the shots make the metallics look very dull

    ok updates on the BA:

    PIP Priest
keep in mind that certain parts (like the purity seals and the backpack) is not yet finished
the picture is crap but I think you get the idea

obviously the mini is inspired by AncientGod's amazing Sanguinary Priest
I didnt have the apothecary arm available, that's why I sculped his apothecary tools from scratch..very satisfied with the result... you can't really see it on the picture though

I also built a jump pack-colleague of him using the banner bearer arm, holding the Space Hulk Chalice with a pose similar to the sanguinor

Looking good there. The white backpack fits just as well as the red one I did. Love how it works even better with the white helmet, though. Not much left to do, finish him!

The helmet is one of the FW mark IV's? Is there a set you would recommend as I want to get a hold of some non-Scorpions mk IV parts as well?

the lower parts of the backpack has red elements aswell. I will try to snap a few shots from more angles as soon as the model is finished.. for some silly reason the white parts don't look very good on the pictures.. in real life the white is beautiful though... one of my best paintjobs so far

can't wait to show off the other priest also!

yes, the helmet is indeed FW mkIV
FW mkIV is the prettiest IMO... the new BA sprues have a mkIV helmet but I don't like it that much since it looks a bit too much like a MKVI too me...

I can recommend the full set.. only 6 of the chests bear red scorpion symbols and can easily be oversculpted with GS..
Sergeant Haas comes with a bionic arm, Mk IV helmet with a full aquila on the forehead and some hybrid Mk III chest.. the RS shoulderpads are available seperately aswell and therefore can be sold easily (which I never did)
