    Dark Moon Kabal

    Hi!

I did have an old thread, but frankly speaking I completely forgot about and it's just better to start a completely new thread.

I'm mostly active on 40konline, but decided to share this army of mine with you guys as well : D

I'll use this thread as a blog, I'll post everything I have so far, then I'll keep posting updates, though I will warn you: I do need a long time to paint anything and I only paint several models at the same time and then take pictures.

So I'll start with a taste of the size of the army:

You'll be glad to know that all these pictures date from about 3 years ago. Right now I have a lot of painted units.
I actually bought more stuff later on (flyers and other stuff), I even started working on 2 more superheavy skimmers.

Basically I wanted to make a "super raider" and "super ravager"
They became the Soul Cage and the Massacre gunboat.
The Soul Cage is still a transport, but it can transport 3 times more passengers and it has 2 more guns, making a total of 5 big guns (all optional: Dark lances, disintegrators or long barreled splinter cannons)
The Massacre Gunboat (of Massacre in short) has a lot more guns like you can see, all linked to the dark matter generator, there's also one huge dark matter shooting gun as you can see.

They're all still WIP, the reason why I don't continue is because they need monsterous amounts of glue and I'm working on other things anyway.

Wow for army size. That´s going to be a heavy blow for your wallet if DE rumours turn out to be true...

Some close ups of the super heavies and the fliers would be nice.

    Cheers

Only worry for my wallet are the new models, I'll obviously want to buy them all to add them to this army, though I won't go as big as this army.

btw, I forgot to mention, but I suspect it's around 20k pts big, possibly more.
I stopped counting at 16k pts, back then I didn't have those flyers or any converted superheavy skimmers lol.

I was waiting for the thread to be approved by a mod to continue posting, close ups, updates, etc...

PS= I'll need quite a lot of time to post all the painted units lol, I might not even finish the update tonight.

No damn marine chapter would stand against this much haha :-)
Very nice indeed and yes, please show your painted results!
Guessing from Hadriel's post above they could look very very good, I want to see them now ;-) Even more when it comes to such big armies.

Truely epic in size, your army is.

I 2nd, 3rd and 4th the request for some close up shots of the various models in your army!

    In particular, the super heavies!

    Cheers!

    Re: Dark Moon Kabal

That's the freaking biggest Kabal I've ever seen anywhere, and I thought mine was pretty big already at like 5K (DE armies tend to be smaller as far as I can see it).

You're going to paint a lot of them? I'll definitely watch this

    Re: Dark Moon Kabal

    Thanks for the great comments!

This army is so cool when you have it in front of you, I built it for apoc, but I do realise I might have overdone it , I've been painting it for the past 3 years and I'm slowly starting to paint apoc datasheets, I'll have several datasheets painted by the end of this year. I have other armies, but I'm 100% focussed on my Dark Eldar, so far I don't plan on stopping until everything is painted!

Ok! Superheavy close ups posted (above), now it's time to post some painted pictures!

I REALLY need to paint more troops, so far I can only complete 5 footslogging squads or 4 raider full squads.
    I'm currenly painting warriors btw.

Don't forget I actually have around 500 warriors, shredder/blasters/splinter cannons/dark lances included. It's not my biggest concern, warriors are painted pretty fast, ravagers and raiders on the other side...

    and more warriors close ups

Some converted and some real blasters. Converted ones were made with a greenstuff blaster cast.

Some converted and some real dark lances, converted ones were made with the bitz from the warrior sprues.
(in case you're wondering why the different armor colors, it's due to the fact that the lighter purple ones are very old warriors, painted a very long time ago.

Before posting something else than warriors I'd like to show my webway portal

and now a recent project of mine: raider bases.
I figured, why not make bases exactly like the raider ramp. I made some casts and here's the result:

    Next to come raiders!

    Re: Dark Moon Kabal

Before continueing, I'll like to mention on thing:
I keep my warriors very simple, I just do basic painting techniques. Warriors are just troops, I have 500 and I have no patience to paint them all with advanced techniques that will take forever to paint. Besides they don't look that bad anyway.

Now everything else you'll see from now on (except if I show warriors again)
is done with advanced painting techniques, etc...
You'll see the difference, trust me.

    My first 2 painted raiders:

    Re: Dark Moon Kabal

I never understood why some people dislike raider, or even go to such extend that they even dare to say they hate raiders.

I admit it's not the coolest model, but they certainly don't look bad, I love them in fact. A good conversion and a good paintjob and you've got yourself an awesome skimmer.
Best part about raiders: conversion possibilities are endless!

Here are some more lovely raiders:

and my favorite raider, who actually took twice (or maybe three times?) more time to paint than a regular raider: HQ raider :
