    Chaos: Any good?

    Greetings all,

I'm getting back into BB after a woefully lengthy absence, and I'm considering a Chaos team (or perhaps Undead). I understand that Undead are considered to be one of the better teams in the game, but I was wondering how Chaos fare? The lack of starting skills coupled with expensive rerolls seems to make them weak, surely this isnt the case?

Chaos are one of the best team in the game, if you are going for the long haul. The reason for this is they have horns on all the Beastmen and chaos warriors have strength 4 which means your team has the highest strength out of any team overall. The team also has access to mutations which are incredible.

However they are one of the hardest teams to win with while all their players are still rookies. Having no 'block' on any players can cost you the first few games so make sure you get 3 dice blocks where ever you can and you will have to play very conservatively and just go for 1 - 0 wins till you get block on all your players. After block get guard on all your players with one player being a designated ball handler (make them a Beastman) and another player being a designated blitzer (again a Beastman).

It is advisable to start of with only Beastmen in your team and as many re-rolls as you can afford, and once you get enough money then start buying chaos warriors and a Minotaur.

They are one of my favourite teams to play against when they are just starting out as I never loose to them and usually beat them by 2 or 3. However they are also the team I fear the most by far once most players in the team have learnt there 3rd and 4th skill. The reason I fear them is they have the ability to completely destroy teams without too much luck needed.

So in conclusion, they are probably one of the worst team for the first 4 games. After their 10th game they will be one of the best teams and will strike fear in to their opponents’ hearts.

Undead are a very good team too and slightly easier to start with.

Warriors have ST4. Beastmen have ST4 on the Blitz. Minotaur has ST6 on the Blitz. Claw is a basic skill all around. Nuff said.

Seriously, they're one of my favorite teams for good reason. However, they're not something I'd reccomend starting out with. The skill development is far too complicated with the inclusion of the Mutation tree on normal rolls for beginners to make the most of and can lead the team into trouble instead of triumph.

Undead is a decent starting choice. It's not too complicated and does play quite well when all is said and done. Just make sure to take more zombies than skeletons. I always urge people to start out with Humans and Orcs and begin to have memorized the skills list and won a few games before branching off to the other races. Even though some of the other teams are arguably better than Orcs and Humans, they're far more complicated and require a significant amount more experience to coach at their fullest potential. Gotta start somewhere, right?

    Chaos is still awesome though.

I took a Skaven team to my league finals last year. My Chaos team has 1-3-1 record this year. While they can be a solid team in the long haul the problem is that you are not generating very many SPP for many games. I had a game where I got only the MVP. This causes the problem that the opponents teams are getting better at a faster rate than you are. Also while you have reasonable armor your guys can still go down. Lost my Mino like 3 games ago and that his a huge blow to team value. I doubt I will be able to replace him this season.

chaos are awesome but be prepared to take some thumpings from fast teams on the road to glory - that's my experience with them anyway.

The positive side of this is that it will help you develop quality defensive strategies moreso than if you were coaching a faster team. Kinda throws you into the deep end that way, and that can be a good thing in the longrun.

Well when your Chaos Warriors have Claw and Mighty Blow you are statistically going to be Stunning anyone you knock down!

As others have said, they are fairly weak at the start but are arguably the most powerful team at higher TVs.
Lion: Hey Russ, you'll never guess what!
Russ: Yeah, I know! Magnus is a traitor! To think that he could accuse our beloved brother Horus of turning against us. Impossible! But don't worry. I have taken care of it, Horus asked me to destroyed Prospero and I have. Magnus shouldn't be bothering us again.
Lion: ... actually, I was going to say that Magnus was right. Horus has turned to Chaos, 7 other Legions have joined him and he has destroyed 3 Loyal Legions already!
