Wow - really inspirational (and gifted) work!
I was always a fan of the first set of legs that you did, but I think the new ones will work out fine, too; I'm really looking forwards to seeing how this progresses.
I like the yellow (pen?) barrels on the feet...maybe keep (or repaint) them yellow for the finished model too?

thanks for the comments. Nice to hear someone liked the other legs, thought they hadn't gone down that well. I'm also glad I might have inspired people to start their projects again.

Yes those "yellow barrels are plastic straws, but they keep falling off the foam board feet! Got some wood glue and if that dosen't hold them then I'll just leave them off!


Anyway, as far as progress goes I have started leg no2 but I used the wrong bowl to draw around and this foot is a little bigger than the other-Doh!!

It's not really noticable so I'm gonna stick with it!

Having trouble with the kness at the mo, cant get inspired! As for the pose I thought I might have him mid stride, about to crush the life out of some poor xeno scumm!!

Will just have to watch the weight distribution so it dosen't fall over!

Just bought a tao devilfish of ebay and I'm gonna use it as something for my titan to stand on!!
Als gonna try and make some injured crew that are trying to escape being squished!


Still haven't finished the legs yet, keep adding bits of detail here and there. Might get to finish one tonight if I try hard enough.

By the way those large holes are to help attach the leg armour.

Ohh yeah this is an awesome pose, but you should consider making the toes bend down a bit, would really be a nice touch of realism

Trouble is if I bend the toes it will hide the tank a bit too much and I want people to see it.

I will have the leg slightly more upright and that way it will look a bit like a 'stomp' attack!

My mini diorama is about 90% complete, and I have to say I'm quiet liking the result....

I have never put so much attention into a base before because I could never be bothered. But now I see why people do bother and I think it is something I will do more.


Just need to add a few more scorch marks to the devilfish as it's a bit too 'clean'


My next plan is to paint the legs before continuing, so I'll be breaking out the Colbalt Blue I think!!

This week I ave been mostly painting!!!

My highlighting skills need some work. It's quite hard to paint large objects neatly!

As you can see the thigh still needs painting and I want to add some battle oaths to the armour plate.


I'm glad I've started painting because it's nice to have a break from the modeling side and also it wont be such a massive job to paint once it's all done.

Looking great A tip on the highligthing though, when you paint something so big you need to highlight it in a different way, as the method you use works really well on 28 mm models but makes your giant models look really small. Instead use more subtle highlights and drybrush them on, remember that this is bigger than a building and reacts very differently to light than a human sized model does, Shading is your friend on these large things to better define the detail, but most of the highlighting will actually be done by the real light since the model is so big. Many people paint a base tone that blends into a slightly larger tone and then makes some very minimalistic extreme highlighting on very sharp edges. And weathering and battle damage is also a good way to underline the massive size, and again it is important to remember that stuff like mud and dust will probably mostly be on the lower part of the titan, like the legs and then in modest amounts. Hope this helps as I really think your hard work deserves a good end result as a bonus for actually making one of these

Oh my gosh, WOW the titan is looking amazing! one question on the base will there be an entire larger base or just that one little part for display.

I think I'm gonna leave the base as it is, i.e just one little one.

I was gonna have a big one to make the legs more strong but I thought it would be a pain to move about a table.

If the titan turns out to be a bit wobbly then I will go for a large base.

Update:-

I have realised the thighs are far too short and need extending. I sized him up with the torso and he looks like a titanic dwarf!!

Trouble is it's getting rather large.

I think when he's done he will stand around 45-50 inches, which is ok because my reaver is 22inches so the are both relevant size to each other.

The above pic is the start of a Apoc launcher rising out of the shoulder. Thats why it may seem a bit small, it's still deploying!!

Also think the sword needs more detail so might have a banner infront of it or something.


Torso is a bit bigger than it should be but hopefully won't look odd when it's all done.
