That was always going to happen. I do that in bulk at a later stage. As I did today with a stack. I'll save up a future bunch of trolls and do them all together in the future.

I've been spending some time figuring stuff to spruce up Black Ivan.

First up I started on his claw.

Tried a new verdigris effect and also built up from brazen brass which I think gives a nice effect which is different to my normal gold.


I'm doing all the shoulder rims in red and gold. Once those are done I'll be working on markings and the metals on the gun.



Harkevitch is now pretty much done. My daylight blub blew out last night when I was doing the rope on the canteen which is why it's too thick. So redo that and he's all finished.

Well due to daylight and not being around some of the stuff here has been done for about a week.


Black Ivan is done.



Inspired by Tom Schadle's Black Ivan I went with freehanding the markings and then dirtying them a lot. Pretty happy with the effect.


Tidied up Harkevitch and here's a better shot of his back.


Here's Ivan and Harkevitch together. Need to sort out playing with them in the new year.

The other model to get done as he was pretty quick was the new Gunmage officer really for use with Ashlynn.


Fairly simple, but he's done.

Next up is a stack of Trolls - started on the skin on the new Warlock, Jarl, as well as full unit of Scouts and the last four scattergunners.

Still love those markings. They look cool dirtied up too.

Thanks Mdiscala. The dirtying's not that hard. Washes of devlan mud and badab black to lose the whiteness and dabbing black very gently a few times to get the chipped effect.

Right not a lot to show in here due to block painting at the moment. At least the pictures are working again after going back on pro at photobucket.


Anyway here are various trolls, some from units, that are getting painted at the moment. My aim is to get a lot further on these this weekend. Doing an older tartan on Jarl and the Scouts. Figured I'd finish off the whelps whilst I painted the rest.

The trolls are getting the focus at the moment when I actually get to paint between being sick and work.


Scattergunners really just had skin and wood done. Blocking out their normal clothes next.


Scouts are further along, but still need blocking out as well. Then I can build up the colours. Probably doing their tartan last.

And finally Jarl.



Lots more to do on him. Particularly his cloak which has only got a very basic coat so far.

I've been slowly working on the trolls. Got the scattergunners now finished.


This brings me up to a max unit with the Unit attachment.



The whole unit together.

I'm going to give them a play and then look maybe at getting in parts to do 2 min units and 2 Unit attachments should I choose to run a tier list with them.

Still working on the Scouts and Jarl. The Scouts will probably be done shortly.

Finally finished painting the Scouts.





Quite a fun unit once I decided how I was doing the browns and greys. Got two whelps and Jarl to finish then I suspect I'll do the Bombardiers next.

Been touching up some damage on other figures, but finally finished the second collection of whelps.




Jarl is about 60% done and now started on the Bombardiers as I build up to a Harkevitch tier list to try out.

Just a couple of wip shots of the Man of War Bombardiers I'm painting at the moment.



This is the basics done so all the highlighting, tidying up and bases to finish. They'll be done at the weekend I suspect and then need to figure what to work on next. Got 5 Dark eldar warriors including Sybarite and assault weapon ready to work on, but I'll be figuring what I'm doing Warmachine wise soon.

Bombardiers are now done.





After doing them I think I'll wait on painting any more Man of Wars for a bit. Got a mortar on the way so I'll be ready to run a 50 point Harkevitch tier list soon.

And Jarl is also done.



He's not photographed particularly well, but as he's mostly browns that may have something to do with it.

Next up I'm repainting Mulg and finishing two idrian skirmishers to get that unit to full.

Not gotten to try Jarl nor the Bombardiers out yet.

In between watching more Community and doing Inq 28 models and repairing some trolls I started on finishing off a unit of Idrians to use with Magnus and a solo to go with harkevitch in the first instance.


This is trying to replicate a scheme from a couple of years back. Lots of browns with the blue to tie them into Magnus.


And a merc character who can work for Khador and Retribution. Going with my standard Retribution scheme as I think even if I change the white I'll probably keep the green and grey.

I've ended up painting Sylys as a birthday gift for a friend as he also plays Khador.





I would have done the base, but never managed to find out how he does his bases so rather than have an odd base he can do it to fit the rest of his stuff. I'll need to pick up my own version again soon.

Because I'm off next week I'm hoping to get painting done. Finish off the two Idrians I have for starters and then see what I want to work on.

Very basic scheme alongside the one I used for reference. I've also now started doing a new way of marking front arcs on the bases and I'll be going through and doing this for all my Warmachine forces.

Next up to be painted are Epic Grissel, my new Warlock, and 2 Caber tossers for my Kriel Warriors.



This guy is being done up to use in a Pathfinder game. We're playing an adventure path and the group decided to create characters as the Leverage crew after one of us said he would create an Inquisitor who follows the god of drinking (which became Nate). This is our Elliott and as the only figure that isn't painted I'm working on him between sessions.

Probably a lot of crossover between this thread and tale of skirmish painters for the next few months.


Trolls basecoated. As I'm doing two different tartans with these I'll be doing the skin first.


Monk who is going to have a blue, bone and white scheme. He's got little tassles dotted around and need to figure a colour for them.

Still trying to finish the two Mordheim figures, but they just aren't grabbing me at the moment.
