    Fredox's Orc and Goblins

After trying to decide what to paint up and what kind of log to post my mind was made up for me when I decided to enter a doubles tournament. Originally I was going to post a Dark Angles log then changed my mind to Tyranids and even thought about a Terrain log.

So here's the plan. I need to get enough points painted to take part in the tournament and that's a modest 600 for each team member. After the tournament 600 is done I'll move onto the rest of my Orc and goblins but that'll only happen after the tournament.
I'm starting out with a bunch of gobbo's. A unit of 20 Night Goblins with full command and a couple shamans to go with them. I'll post some pics up after I "borrow" a family members camera. They won't be anything special as they are skull pass models mainly and my painting history is non-existent. I'll be learning as I go and have already decided to look into wet palette painting after one afternoon of base coating with foundation paints. I'm looking at using something similar to http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/i...20palette&st=0 unless anyone knows another option. Feel free to tell me if I'm doing anything wrong.

Ok it might not look like much but this is quite literally the most painting I've done in years. The wet palette worked out well but I guess I'll try and improve my 5 minute job in the long run. Moving onto yellow and weapons tonight.

Good start, I think you need some shading to give depth to your minis. Just use devlan mud, it should be ok
Visit and rate my fantasy log : A lot of green against a feeble mind
    Models painted 2011= 45 / 2012 = 62 / 2013 = 32

That's just foundation's over the undercoat. I'll be going back over them tomorrow after I take my car for it's MOT. I want to get this unit sorted for the end of the week.

I know it's been a while without a update but work and such has been keeping me busy. Anyway a couple updates. I've started work on a couple stone trolls and a unit of orc boyz. The troll looks better in person and is my most completed model in my wargaming history. All are still WiP but c+C are welcome. I'm looking for a decent table top standard and am plesed with the troll so far.

Hm, you're off for a good start, that's clear from looking at how you've basecoated the orcs. Two little tips: When painting black, try to use grey (Adeptus Battlegrey for example), washed with Badab Black. That's the simplest way, and gives a nice highlight. Besides, you should consider using a spray gun, to spray all your orc models in Calthan Brown or a similar brown, because it's a very good colour to work from for a dirty horde army.

Oh, and if you've not done so, do take a look through the log "Ogre Maneaters", because it's "made of awesome and win", as we keep hearing nowadays, and it might give some good modelling or painting ideas!

I've got a airbrush sat under the bed and need to get it set up and running at some point. Will probably be after the 600 points are done for the tournament. I'll check out the Ogre Maneaters to.

Looks very nice so far, keep on going!

If I may ask, when is this tournament? What army is your friend playing?

It's a inter-store tournament the beginning of next month and I'm teaming with another Orc player. I've got 7 days off work between now and then so time to get cracking I guess. Working tomorrow so won't have any updates until Tuesday night at the earliest.

Ok so time for a update. Went to the tournament yesterday (best not to mention the result). Here's some pics of the almost finished army. Need to add some details that I could get away with leaving off for and add grass patches to the bases. Some quick adding up comes out at 725 points without magic items. Almost 1000 point with a little bit of work. will be a nice feeling when I reach it.

Some small photos for a goblin, but one great step forwards in the painting. Great style of the army! The orcs look really bestial now.

I like it, a good color scheme, especially on the orcs with shields, like them a lot!

I've had some reinforcements turn up in the last week. 60 ebay night goblins and 15 of the new boar boyz. The boars will be put on the orc and goblin "to do" shelf. Even after painting the tournament stuff the shelf gets more crowded. The gobbo's are getting based tonight ready for re-spraying later in the week.

    Re: Fredox's Orc and Goblins

Not a big update and not worth taking pics either. I'm in the middle of painting the 60 ebay gobbo's. I've also decided that I want a night goblin army ready for release day. Got 100ish night goblins on top of the 60 I've started to build and paint. Should be fun to do.

I really like the skin effect on the stone trolls, nice work!

Small question though: that Orc Shaman model, which one is it, it doesn't look GW?

    Re: Fredox's Orc and Goblins

It's the limited edition shaman from the orc and goblin army release box. Bought it when it was first released and painted it the end of June this year. There'll be a few limited edition models floating about the army when it's done as I tend to collect the more common ones when I can. got more work done on the batch of 60 today to. Again not worth photo's but still progress.

    Re: Fredox's Orc and Goblins

Ok so my treat for when I finish my NG's had arrived. Regular troll next to it for size comparison. I've got the complete model with the dwarf slayer and scenic bases to. Certificate of authenticity came with it and none of the flash has been removed either. Going to try and get some more work done on the NG's today but will be able to make some serious progress from Wednesday on.

    Re: Fredox's Orc and Goblins

Quick update. Its not going as fast as I'd like. The bases are taking ages but at least there's a couple pics to look at. They should have the last colour on the base and base yellow on the shields done tonight. I'm going to the same standard as the previous ones in this thread. When all my gobbos are to that level I'll go through them putting finishing touches on like shield edges and eyes. Total of 59 in that batch to save you counting.
