    Games Workshop Foundation Paints

I recently picked up necron abyss thinking that it would be a good replacement for midnight blue, and to my dismay I found that the paint is very shiny when it dries. Are all of the foundation paints supposed to be glossy? What are your experiences with them? Thanks

I've got a few of the foundation paints and they're not shiny at all. I've not tried the color you mentioned, but I know that very dark blues and blacks have a tendency to be shiny in many brands of paint. Just hit it with a little Dullcote when you're done.

I only really use Tallarn Flesh, but it dries to a matte finish. Perhaps it needs to be shaken more, or maybe it varies color by color.

They're actually earthy tones. You need to shake them a lot so the medium and the pigment mix correctly; if you don't they dry shiny or even translucent.

Yus, shake it, as the wise men before me said. Foundation paints settle very quickly (even quicker than Vallejo paints), thus shaking is in order before every usage.

Thanks guys. I thought that I shook it enough but I probably didn't.

You could always give it a watered down wash of badab black too. That will help take away some of the shine.

The Old foundations do not shine on me, nor do the old washes, but I tried 2 colors I use as undercoat and wash standard on all models, and rakarth flesh base (replaced Dheneb Stone foundation) has a sheen to it... also the shading color Agrax Eathshade (replaced Devlan Mud wash) shines like its glossy!!.. I am quite frustrated by this...
