    Iron Warriors and Word Bearers

I have been doing some Iron warriors and word bearers for a while, and have been posting under a gerneral 40k forum, but I think its time to have a army specific forum thread, as Im planning on concentrating on them over the summer. Im also hoping to finish them before mid Autumn. I havent decided exactly on the number of points of each of the two armies, but at least 2000pts each.

I will be doing both Iron warriors and Word Bearers as they are my two favourite legions.

Look forward to hearing all your comments and Critiscm.

Heres some finished iron warriors. Still need to do a couple more to complete the squad, but this at least shows you where Im heading. Im currently working on some havocs and Special weapon marines, which I will post at a later date.

Re: Iron Warriors and Word Bearers

Heres some more of my progress, and I have 2 rhinos, 2 predators, and 12 Khorne berserkers under construction. Some people probably dont agree about including marked units in a supposedly chaos undivided legion, but I think Khorne and nurgle could fit quite well.
I would possibly consider doing plague marines but using bionics etc, but this is for the future.
Includes Havocs and special weapon marines.
Very early W.I.P stage-Includes Havocs and special weapon marines.

    Some finished models

Good start, they look really good. Nice and dark. Only crit is the weapon, to me the red doesn't match with the rest of the model.

The photo in your first post has some nicely painted Chaos Marines and that huge group photo is especially interesting. I'm "subbed" to see the progress on all that.
The Plasma & Powerfist champ in the last pic looks great too!

    Thanks Eltanko!
I can see what you mean about the red, but I was trying to introduce some colour, because I didnt want the army looking to bland.

Im also considering putting some discarded space helmets on a few of the bases to give a few points of interest, mainly imperial fists and ultramarines so the red plasma pistol may not look out of place as much. Anyone see if problems in doing this?

    Thanks Solun Decius!

Looks good so far, keep it up. I have to agree with ElTanko though, the all-red pistol seems out of place. It is Chaos however, he could have looted it.

    Thanks 7150.
As it seems people arent to sure about the colour of the plasma pistol, what alternate colours should I be considering as I have some plasma pistols and plasma guns still to do?

This is very cool, makes me want to paint some chaos marines myself! In regards to the gun.. hmm maybe black casing with yellow chevrons? I think thats a classic Iron Warriors theme for detailing.

Re: Iron Warriors and Word Bearers

Thanks Yorick. Ill think Ill try the plasma pistol black with chevrons to see how it will look.

Still building the tanks. Have one predator and one rhino built and undercoated, and the base coat on the predator has been started. Have also got two vindicators 90% built (its nice looking in a cupboard and finding models you forgot you even had).
    Will add some pics tommorrow.

Some further w.i.p shots. Still need to do abit more work especially muting the yellow, work on the armour, and generally neatening up.
Also the character model is likely to be my HQ choice as I think it looks well suited to being an Iron warrior, though I also have GW warsmith model, which Im painting shortly.
You may notice in the picture below some Khorne berserkers. Im planning on having a unit or two in my army.

Yeah, the Iron Warrior Berzerkers are pretty cool.
Seems you've got a whole lot of updates coming up. Good luck on all those tanks!

    Thanks Solun.
You cant have an Iron warriors army without any tanks/Artillery, just wouldnt be right!
Also helps that I enjoy painting tanks, but I have never done an all metallic paint scheme on a tank, so hopefully I can carry over my IW method on to the tanks.

Re: Iron Warriors and Word Bearers

That'll be a fun army - Khorne Berzerkers + battle cannons You just need some Psykers, Daemons & Terminators to make the ultimate fun/killy 40K force.

In reference to your other blog, you're nearly there on finishing this lot - just keep plugging away a little longer!

Re: Iron Warriors and Word Bearers

Thanks purplebeard. The terminators have been started on, and just awaiting me getting to them to finish them off. There wont be any daemons in the IW army as I don't think it fits with there background, though there will be some within the wordbearers.

Abit later than I said but heres go. First 3 of my Terminators- still need some work on the trophy racks, the skulls and SM helmet. The helmet will be an Imperial fist, though was contemplating having a raven guard helmet, especially after listening to HH audiobook on the raven guard.
