normally you'd find my stuff in amongst the crazy sci fi logs but tyranids and daemons have given me the bug for building big monsters.
So, when asked if I would build some monsters for a few friends, the answer was YES!
for those of you who have followed any of my logs, you'll know that the chances of me working on just one thing at a time are minimal, so here is a look at a few of the beasties I am working on.
always open to suggestions, and I like to keep things "fluffy".
this little lady has been taking shape over the past few weeks and will be gaining more and more detail as we progress.
She is a requested different take on the keeper of secrets. still sticking with the four arms but veering away from the bovine chunkiness in favour of speed, perfection and deadly elegance;
and this big hulking monster is my latest request.
having not really played fantasy for something like four editions, I had not heard of a Cygor until this request came in. but he wants a rock throwing cyclopean beastman based on the plastic giant kit. Coool!
so here is the basic shape. as with most large monsters I will find something to hold the bulk of the basic shape (in this case the plastic giant) then get it to roughly the right size and shape using milliput:
the next stage will be green stuff detailing. this one will be HAIRY!
normally, if I'm given a base model, I will try to use as much of that model as possible, then the challenge is adding enough detail so that the finished conversion is quite different from the original model, but the base model is still recognizable.
so I've bulked out the shoulders chest and neck to give it a more bestial look.
the legs have been completely redone to match other beastmen.
hes got a bit fatter.
there are a few things I'm trying to decide so some input would be appreciated:
Do I need to bulk out the arms? the giant is really skinny but beastmen tend to be quite chunky; giant-beastman, or beastman-giant?
the head is just there temporarily, I will be sculpting a new one. currently trying to decide if it needs to take inspiration from ungors, gors, bestigors, minotaurs or whether I should just kick back to the first idea which was the cyclops from the original "clash of the titans" (you can see the influence throughout the model already)
