I like the Dreadnought, and the War Altar of Khorne should turn out cool. Looking forward to seeing it painted.
You have some good sculpting skills. Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with.

This is warhammer. There should be a hell of a lot more pain flying around.
Currently working on:
Kustom Meganobz!
Sacred Spawning of Chotec (Lizardmen)
Thanks! I shortened the altar spawn a bit and started painting it earlier tonight, hopefully the pile of body parts won't be too much of a pain to paint.
On a recent trip to my mum's house I found a box of old miniatures which I thought I had lost, which included my beloved Battle Sister army, a Blood Angel army and a bunch of Tyranids. It also contained some more old Space Crusade marines that I once decided to paint up like Thousand Sons, and who will fit in great with this new army. Only two are painted, but I've got another four unpainted ones waiting on the sidelines.

I don't tend to paint a lot of terminators, but here is one I just finished, in the shape of an Obliterator of Khorne.

source on the bionic foot? I remember seeing one like that like 15 years ago
"You ask what I hate? I hate a creature that speaks of pride and honour, that fosters the love of his sons, that smiles and scrapes at every obedient act, and then turns like a diseased dog and stabs his own child in the spine!''
The bionic foot is attached to the body, which is from an old terminator inquisitor model. There was a pair of them, this one is the goatee guy with a combo-needler, the other one is the ordo malleus guy with a hood and psycannon. I recently dug both of them out of storage, but never liked mr. goatee so decided to turn him to chaos.
Since I found the Thousand Sons marines I've wanted to get a Sorcerer to lead them, so I found an old space marine body with no arms or head, and started adding chaos parts. This is how he looks so far. I had to blackline the slits in his helmet because I was scratching at them with a knife, which made them invisible in the photo.

Cool work on him so far, I don't know if he looks quite 'sorcerous' enough yet though. But I guess they way he is painted could change that!!

Nice mini especially the shield. Could use some more 'egypti-fying' to go with the thousand sons theme though. Perhaps some tomb kings bits as you're into converting?

It's true that he looks more like a fighter than a mage, I was very much thinking that while building him. Other than adding more robes, I'm not entirely sure how to change that though, since I specifically wanted him with a shield and he has quite a martial pose. I guess robes and wizardly ornamentation will be the way to go. I don't feel a pressing need to make him look egyptian because I want him to be part of the squad I posted pics of earlier, who don't look particularly egyptian either. But maybe I can put some appropriate icon on his chest, I've been trying to think of something that could cover up the skull and crossbones.
Thanks for the feedback!
Really good stuff so far, keep em coming!

I like your painting style - nice and gritty. It's also good to see some classic models getting some love. I think my favourite thing about your blog so far is the spawn carrying the altar of Khorne.
Wonderful stuff... All of it, really! If GW could only give Chaos this feel themselves. Love the 2nd ed vibe, as well as the Daemons (this last one is just great, with the third hand supporting his weight being especially awesome) and the general feel of your painting. The mage-slayer has to be my favourite this far though, so much character in that model! Little fluff bits like that really add to an army.

Thanks for the high praise! Makes me wish I had a cool table and terrain I could photograph them on, but even though I don't, I felt like doing a group shot. Classic battle scene!

Holy crap that war altar! Great work!
The Harrowed: My Demon Army's Warseer project log
that dreadnought and the war altar are phenomenal. you're chaos marines look much more "chaotic" than GW's current line IMHO.

Yay, I have that book!
In fact that's where a lot of the inspiration for this army comes from. The reason I made the altar this way is because the army lists in Lost and the Damned had a War Altar entry that stated that it could be transported either in a wagon or carried on the back of some large beast. The tzeentchian thrall wizards are based directly on the thrall wizards entry in the tzeentch army list, too.
I love the units you have painted up so far, i dont know if its been said before but your paint style is very (john) 'blanchian'. The composition of the forces is great, its as if you rolled on one of those d100 tables.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks! I'm a huge fan of John Blanche, so to me that is high praise. I remember a unit of khorne marines of his, converted from imperial marines, in an old WD that blew me away with their amazing painting style.
