Hi,
I just rolled for Multiple Injuries on one of my gangers and rolled a 6. I then rolled 6 further injuries and rolled 4 x Old Battle Wounds (36 four times!), Blind in Right Eye and Left Leg Wound.
Do the 4 old battle wounds mean I should roll 4 D6 before the game and any single 6 means he misses the game? If so, he will miss 2 out of every 3 games from now on!
The way I would play it is, yes, you have to roll 4D6 every game. Fluffwise, this guy has been seriously messed up and by the sound of things is lucky to be alive, unless he's very useful in some other way, it might be worth considering packing him off to the old-ganger's home and hiring a replacement.
Yes, you roll for every OBW before each game. Furthermore if he goes blind in his left eye he will be retired. Not sure how your game group pays it, but my lot have always put a ban on voluntarily retiring gangers after my Ash Nomads came into some serious money early in their campaign and I fired everyone who was not rock-hard and replaced them with new guys. Then after each game I would assess the performance and potential of each ganger, taking into consideration their injuries and skills, before repeating.
After about two months there was not a scrap of fat on my gang, every single ganger was utterly lethal and there were only three injured members, all of whom had skills and advances that made them indispensible.
Yeah, that reeks a little of powergaming to me. I think it's funny to keep super banged up guys around. My friend has a guy in his gang with the following injuries:
-Old battle wound
-Head wound
-Blind in one eye
But he is also WS5, 3A, and 4I so he is a close combat destruction machine (when he's not stupid).
We allow replacements, buuuut we usually don't, unless they are banged up something wicked.
Still, trimming the fat seems like a fun way to powergame some![]()
A friend in our campaign has a ganger with Partially Deaf, smashed right arm, missing 3 fingers right hand, blind left eye, shell shock and old battle wound.

Only in the sense that you have to roll for each one, but not in the sense that they are additive. So if you had a ganger with 3 OBW, you would roll 3 dice (or 1 die 3 times), if any of the results are "1" they are out for that battle. If they were additive, it would mean any roll of 3 or under on 1D6. (Which actually has the same pass/fail percentages as the right way, according to statistical theory)
Damn, I'll have to ask my group how they feel about retiring gangers. But with 4 battle wounds, missing 2 out of every 3 games on average, means he will soon lag behind everyone else. I'm keeping my gang around 12 members so he is taking up a place I could put a useful ganger into.
I happen to have 2 juves with old battle wounds as well. In that round of rolling for serious injuries I rolled 6 consecutive 36's. Freaked me out a bit to be honest.
I was looking on a few sites and found an unofficial FAQ from Jervis Johnson and Andy Chambers, http://members.toast.net/jab/scifi/nec_gof_faq.html.
Number 48 saysWhat do people think? When rolling for Serious Injuries, what happens when you roll up the same injury that your ganger already has? Do you re-roll the result? or are the effects cumulative? This plainly does not make sense in the case of Head Wound or after your ganger has lost all his fingers on BOTH hands.
Ignore duplicate effects unless the table says otherwise.
My group is the same. After a long period of a ganger never being voluntarily chosen for fights, or when they become a common joke between players in the campaign, the player is kind of encouraged to let them go. I never do this myself though... for better for worse and all that, and I need someone to meat shield my Heavy anyway.![]()
It has been brought to my attention that there is also a character called enyos in Buffy the Vampire slayer. Note that my username predates him by several years, not the other way around
Oh sure - its certainly not something I would encourage, and I only did it to prove a point to my group, who were all taking themselves a little too seriously. They're all into tournament 40K and like to brag about their prowess, and they all scoffed when I explained that Necromunda is an unforgiving game already, without playing it WAAC-style.
They made rather insulting chicken noises at me and decided they wanted a 'no holds barred' sort of campaign, where they could use any brutal tricks they could dream up, and it would be too bad for sissies whose gangs took a beating. We also wager on our games sometimes, and put bets on who would win the campaign.
I warned them that they didn't understand the subtleties of what they were getting into, and after a few shrewd raids, a bit of juve-boosting and a well-executed hit on a guilder caravan my gang grew into an unstoppable monster, which steamrollered them into the ground. They were not happy bunnies, but they did cough up.
That's a very old FAQ. The much newer one which I believe many referred to over the past several years states:
http://www.yakromunda.com/index.php?page=faq#INJURYQ. What happens if a fighter has multiple Old Battle Wounds?
A. Make multiple rolls for each of that that fighter's Old Battle Wounds. For example, if the fighter has three Old Battle Wounds, roll a D6 three times. On the roll of a 1 on any of the three D6's, the fighter's old wound is playing up and he is unable to take part in the forthcoming battle. Remember, Old Battle Wounds only affect that next battle. You would roll anew for each subsequent battle, even if you rolled multiple ones.
